The CEO’s little ones

Chapter 12

Chapter 12:.

Hayden had very fast reflexes, so he was able to dodge that object at the last second, before it could hit her.

With a loud crashing sound, it turned out to be a glass that had been thrown by him and was now shattered after crashing into the cabinet behind her.

He had seen countless people with terrible tempers, but this was the first time he had seen someone so young throw a tantrum by physically throwing objects. At first, Hayden couldn’t help but frown with a hint of anger, but strangely, as soon as he laid eyes on that little boy, he felt all traces of anger dissipate.

As he sat surrounded by blankets and pillows, the boy, wearing brown plaid pajamas, looked at her curiously. He had perfect features that seemed to have been specially sculpted and she could imagine how handsome and popular he would be among the ladies when he grew up.

However, his perfect features were contorted, indignation and dissatisfaction were written all over his face.

“What happened here?” Hayden took a few steps toward him and crouched down beside him, “Who bothered you?”

The little boy just looked at her without saying anything and a glint of doubt appeared in his watery eyes. The next second, he pushed her hand away sharply, as if telling her not to go any further. She was very much on guard.

Hayden no longer offered to comfort him. He sat down beside him and they stood looking at each other for a while.

Soon after, a waiter said outside the suite, “Miss Downey, the custard and dumplings are ready. Shall I send them in?”

“No need.” Hayden replied, turning his head, “Leave them by the door and cover them with an insulating cover.”

Faint smells slowly permeated the room, and the little boy who hadn’t been talking somehow stole glances at him. It seemed that he had already made the gesture of swallowing saliva several times.

After such a tantrum, it was natural for him to feel hungry.

Hayden remained motionless for a while longer before suddenly suggesting, as if an idea had occurred to him, “I’m a little hungry right now and I want to get something to eat in your suite here. Is that okay with you?”

The little boy continued to frown with an annoyed look on his face. He simply turned away, saying nothing.

Hayden took his silence as approval on his part, so he got up and went to fetch the tray of food inside. The custard was slippery and the meatballs gave off a heady aroma.noveldrama

He took an empty plate and poured himself half a bowl of custard, adding half a piece of meatballs as well. Then he mashed the food and blew on it, commenting, “This smells good! It looks like they were able to cook this dumpling really well today.”

She could hear an audible sound the boy’s stomach made behind her.

Hayden carried her plate as the boy looked at her with a confused expression on his face. She met that child’s annoyed, yet expectant expression and couldn’t help but let out a cold chuckle.

She asked him with much deliberation: “Do you want to try them, even a little bit? This is very tasty, and besides, it’s my favorite food.”

The boy continued without saying anything, but after a little hesitation, he nodded.

“Okay.” Hayden then approached him with the plate of food in his hand. He took a spoonful of custard and dumplings and lifted it to his mouth, asking, “Is it good?”

The boy chewed for a moment before nodding with his eyes lighting up.

Hayden didn’t stop feeding him and gave him another spoonful.

The boy chewed the food as he examined the lady in front of him. He felt that this woman was not like the others who were afraid and resentful of him. This lady was really kind.

Before long, the plate of custard and dumplings was almost finished.

Hayden handed her a tissue to wipe her mouth and jokingly said, “All right, you’re finally full. I guess you’ll have more energy for another tantrum.”

The boy pouted his mouth and turned his face away from her in disgust. She didn’t seem to like getting snide remarks from others.

Hayden smiled weakly and just as she was getting up with the containers and plate, something tugged at her before she could turn around and leave. She looked down and saw that little boy was clutching the edge of her skirt with an aggrieved expression on his face. It looked like he didn’t want her to leave just like that.

Looking at her insecure face, Hayden’s mind wandered to his own daughter. When she was busy with work, she didn’t spend much time with her either, and this little boy in front of her made his heart ache slightly.

Then she said softly, “I’m not going anywhere. I just want to put these dishes away so they don’t break.”

However, the little boy continued to clutch the edge of her skirt without letting up.
