Chapter 287
Chapter 287:
Sinking into his thoughts for a few moments, Hayden said, “Actually, it would have been nice if you told me later.”
In the dim lights, Benjamin saw her smile. Full of attention and as warm as ever.
“You already knew?” He asked.
Hayden shook his head, “Not the details. I just know that you probably remembered your past.”
“So why did you keep…?”.
“Keep pretending I didn’t know anything?”. Hayden sighed, “After all, I did run you over. When I took you to the hospital, you were in rags, I thought you were homeless. Besides, you would have been long gone if you wanted to, I guess you have some secret you don’t want to tell.”
Benjamin felt moved and uncomfortable at the same time. After all, being considered a hobo wasn’t a very touching thing.
“Noted.” His eyes twinkled.
“You’re a junior in police college. I wouldn’t have thought about taking care of you your whole life if you’d told me sooner.”
Shaken, Benjamin paused as his heartbeat did the same. After a while, he took Hayden’s hands.noveldrama
“You’re very kind, Hayden.”
“I certainly am, I don’t need you to tell me that.”
“How about you break up with Joseph, there’s a lot of drama in his family. Stay with you, I’ll take care of you and Stella all my life.”
“You?” Rolling his eyes at him, Hayden waved his hands as she removed her hands from his, “How can you, a college student, say something like that? You’re still asking your parents for money, aren’t you?”.
“I’m not, I earn my own money.”
“You do? Then why are you still living in my house and eating my food for free?” Hayden raised his eyebrows and looked at him aggressively, demanding explanations.
“No, I don’t have any money.” He changed his words immediately, “It’s just that…”.
“It’s okay, I’m just kidding. Stay as long as you want, no one’s going to kick you out.” She let out a giggle, “Want some more noodles? There’s still some left in the pot.”
Benjamin then felt relieved and replied with a smile, “Of course.”
It felt so good to finally get that secret off his chest. He lied so much to others that it almost became a habit, but somehow he felt so guilty lying to Hayden.
News of Yi-Bai’s malicious suppression of Green Lemon Clothing dominated the newspaper industry for several days. Hayden didn’t organize it, but it wouldn’t be hard to figure out who organized the retaliation.
Considering the public attention this farce had received, it would be so out of character for Edison to never make a call to offer help.
Hayden called Edison to thank him the day the Joann Group notified him that they would be using his designs.
“Joann gave the contract to Green Lemon Clothing. Thank you, Edison.”
Edison’s voice was mocking from the other side. “It’s supposed to be yours, although there were a few hiccups in the process. Among all the favors I’ve offered you, this one doesn’t deserve a thank you call.”
“Well, a thank you can’t express my gratitude for those huge favors, but it can for the small ones.” Hayden said, “But actually, I have something else I need to talk to you about.”
