Chapter 7: A Chance Encounter
After hearing this, Domino rued the day when she thought her guts would work wonders against these arrogant princes, but now, she didn’t think it would work, and ended up creating more trouble for her and Octavia Gills.
Octavia Gills took a deep breath and went forward to pick up the bottle of XO, tilting her head back, she poured it into her mouth. Domino had helped her find the person in charge of the project, so she could keep her job, get a promotion and a raise, to ease the burden of her family on her shoulders. It’s not like I’ve never had a drink before. I can just get drunk, throw up, and then sleep afterwards.
“Octavia, you’re crazy, you can’t stay sober with that amount of alcohol, give me the rest, let’s finish this and go back to my flat to celebrate your promotion.” Domino grabbed a third of Octavia Gills’ bottle and drank it all in one go, holding it upside down for Woodrow to see, “It’s time for you to man up, look at this project and negotiate a contract, President Cruise!”
“Take it easy, haven’t you noticed that your friend is about to throw up? Aren’t you going to take care of her first before we look at the contract?”
At this moment, she looked at Octavia Gills, who, unable to cope with the alcohol, started feeling sick in her stomach, wanting to throw up, “Octavia, are you okay? Can you hold on for a while?” Domino was concerned and ran to help a slightly dizzy Octavia Gills.
“It’s okay, I’m just a little dizzy. Just take the proposal to President Cruise for me, I’ll go to the restroom and wash my face, I’ll be sober in a jiffy.” Patting the back of Domino’s hand to reassure her, Octavia Gills headed to the restroom alone.
Turning on the tap, the cold water slowly flowed out and Octavia Gills cupped her hands gently and poured it over her face, the cold water stimulating her faint nerves and made her feel much more awake. She dried her face with a tissue, straightened her collar and headed out, thinking about closing the contract with President Cruise. As she turned the corner, Octavia Gills saw a man and a woman locked in a passionate kiss, hands caressing each other’s bodies. Octavia Gills was about to walk away when she suddenly saw the man’s face.
Tredan’s long, slender fingers were gliding over Lilian Drye’s slender neck, down to her charming collarbone, and as his large palm was caressing Lilian Drye’s back, stroking it seductively, his lips gently pried open Lilian Drye’s peachy lips.
“Mmm… mmm,” Lilian Drye moaned uncontrollably as she indulged in Tredan’s caresses. “Wait, Tredan?? ah… Tredan, I… I’m leaving the country tomorrow for further studies before I return here again.”
Hearing Lilian Drye’s words, Tredan abruptly stopped his roving hands and grimaced. He released Lilian Drye in annoyance and said, “Damn it Lilian, don’t you know how much I need you? You do this every time, with no regard for my feelings, what am I to you?”
“It’s not like that, Tredan, don’t be angry, listen to me,” Lilian Drye hugged the already angry Tredan “I do love you; you know I love you very much, but you know I am also the heir to the Drye family, and I just need to leave to enrich myself so that I can be perfect for you. I’ll be back before you know it, and we’ll be together every day when I get back.”
A hurt-faced Tredan yanked Lilian Drye’s hands away.
“You say that every time you leave the country, Lilian. Are you still the same person that you were when you were 5 years old? Why do you care so little about me that you always leave when I need you? Forget it, leave if you want to!”Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Lilian Drye walked over to Tredan and hugged him tenderly from behind, “Wait for me, I love you, Tredan! I’ll be thinking of you wherever I go, remember to wait for me!” She stood up on her toes, kissed Tredan on the forehead, and turned to leave.
Octavia Gills was crying as she leaned against the wall at the corner of the bathroom door. She heard Tredan’s every word, every sentence, so clearly. “Tredan, when will you realize that the five-year-old ‘Lilian Drye’ is not the ‘Lilian Drye’ you thought she was?” Octavia Gills wanted to tell Tredan.
Suddenly her phone rang. It was Domino, telling her that she had closed the deal with Woodrow, but was very worried seeing that Octavia Gills hasn’t come back yet. She was afraid that she had lost her again like last time, “Octavia, are you okay, are you feeling better? ”
“I’m okay, I’ll go and find you now.” After hanging up the phone, Octavia Gills dried the tears on her face and prepared to find Domino, only to turn around and run into Tredan, who had just argued with Lilian Drye. He was now looking like he had gone back to the hurt little boy of 20 years ago. The only difference is that Tredan now had a lit cigarette in his hand, and his face was not as youthful as it once was. Every time she saw this man’s vulnerable expression, she couldn’t help but feel soft toward him, and she couldn’t help but go up to him to gently stroke his head along the roots of his hair and say, with a sigh of pain, “She’ll be back.”
“Lilian, I knew it…” Tredan, who had thought it was Lilian Drye returning to him, was surprised at the sight of Octavia Gills. How can that feeling just now feel so familiar, her fingers running down the roots of his hair, the gesture of stroking, only Lilian did that to him. No! How is it that for those two years, when she comforted him, the warmth her fingers gave, seemed so vivid now.
How can this woman have the same habits as Lilian when she was five? However, she also looked familiar, and when Tredan looked at Octavia Gills’ face, he suddenly remembered that night of madness at the hotel.
“So, it’s you! Are you not working in a hotel? Do you still need to come to this bar part-time?”
Tredan could not resist making sarcastic remarks with a scornful edge to his words, even though he knew that Octavia Gills was a virgin that night of the Christmas party.
Octavia Gills couldn’t believe the words she was hearing, that he thought so badly of her.
“You are too much, Tredan!” Octavia Gills, who was holding back her tears, was so angry for the first time. She had only wanted to comfort his seemingly strong heart, and she could not bear to see him so down and sad, but she did not expect him to slander her so much.
“Excessive? Oh yeah, because I didn’t pay you for that night at the hotel, right? Is that it?” Taking his wallet out of his trouser pocket, he grabbed the only twenty-thousand-dollar cash left in it, and threw it at Octavia Gills’ chest.
“That money is the reward you want!”
“You bastard, Tredan, stop right there.” Tredan’s every word pierced Octavia Gills heart like a small knife. Pulling at him as he turned to leave, “Wait a minute!”
