Chapter 224
Hearing Rosa's words finally shattered the emotional dam Evelyn had been holding back for so long. Tears poured out like a flood.
"Rosa, I'm seething with hatred! I wish I could tear Dahlia apart and scatter her ashes to the wind!" Evelyn cried out, every word dripping with anguish. "How could she be so cruel and heartlessly take Charlie's life!"
"Charlie was only five... and Dahlia's a mother too... How could she do such a thing?!"noveldrama
Evelyn's voice trembled with each tear-streaked word. Her hatred for Dahlia was all-consuming. From the moment John revealed the truth, hatred had poisoned her heart. Last night, Dahlia had gone to Charlie's grave again and used black animal blood and charms to curse Charlie to eternal unrest. Evelyn's hatred for Dahlia had obliterated any sense of reason.
It drove Evelyn to a desperate desire for revenge!
Rosa's eyes welled up as she listened, her tears mirroring Evelyn's. Her heart ached for Evelyn, who had endured so much pain.
Evelyn had no family, and she yearned deeply for the warmth of familial love. Mrs. Jenkins had adopted and cherished her, filling some of that void. But after Mrs. Jenkins passed away, Evelyn was alone once
more.
Charlie was her own flesh and blood, the only family she had. She loved Charlie with every fiber of her being. Losing Charlie felt like being torn apart. Her heart was in pieces.
Evelyn knew that Dahlia was responsible for Charlie's death, while Charles, that blind fool, refused to believe her and always stood by Dahlia Evelyn longed to avenge Charlie but felt utterly alone, with no one to turn to. The grief that consumed her had no outlet, and the pain was unbearable.
Rosa saw that Evelyn was on the verge of breaking down and pulled her into a comforting,
compassionate embrace. This was what she would do when Evelyn first joined the Jenkins family. Evelyn would hide her pain but was unable to conceal the truth in her eyes, so Rosa would hold her and soothe her, saying, "Tell me what's wrong, I'll take care of it."
Evelyn would remain silent but cry softly in her arms, releasing her pent-up emotions. Rosa knew her words of comfort could do little to change things now. She couldn't bring Charlie back, but Evelyn had been carrying this burden alone for too long.
Evelyn was like a tightly drawn bowstring, ready to snap at any moment. Rosa feared she might do something drastic. Evelyn was still young and shouldn't let hatred consume her life. If hatred drove her to despair, leading her to join Charlie in death, it would only mean victory for Dahlia.
Evelyn was talented in jewelry design and had the potential to become an exceptional designer. Her future was still bright. Rosa would seek justice for Charlie. Dahlia, that vile woman, dared to take Charlie's life. Even if it meant getting her hands dirty, Rosa was determined to make Dahlia pay.
After all, she was old, with one foot in the grave. As for her misguided, hopeless grandson Charles, he was no longer worthy of being with Evelyn. He had mistreated Evelyn and Charlie for five years, and now, even after Charlie's death, he remained oblivious. Rosa was waiting for the moment when he realized Charlie was gone, and regret consumed him.
Evelyn leaned into Rosa's arms, letting her tears flow freely. She cried for what felt like an eternity until
her emotions began to settle. Rosa looked at Evelyn's red and swollen eyes, gently wiped the tears from her face and said hoarsely, "Eve, bring me my phone!"
She was going to call Charles herself, bring him over, and tell him the truth about Charlie's death at Dahlia's hands.
