Chapter 1512
Zane couldn't help but find the situation increasingly amusing as he listened. "Mr. Calvin, don't you think what you're saying is quite funny? To put it in perspective, the honor of this project belongs to our entire biology department, and on a larger scale, it brings glory to the university."
Indeed, as a part of the official institutions, wasn't Prestige University, the top university in the country, also directly under the government's jurisdiction?
Both being under national governance, where does the question of offending or not offending come from?
If there was any question of offense, it was probably more about not being able to explain things privately.
Calvin, with his hands braced on the desk, no longer appeared as assertive as before. Watching Zane, it seemed as though their roles had reversed, with Zane suddenly having the upper hand.
Silence fell for a long while.
The quiet of the office was eventually broken by the ring of a phone.
It was Calvin's mobile ringing.
Zane's demeanor had returned to normal. Glancing at the mobile on the desk, he spoke in an unhurried tone, "Mr. Calvin must be quite busy, so I won't take up more of your time."
Having said that, he headed towards the door. Just as he was about to leave, Zane suddenly turned around and called out, "Oh, almost forgot. I would still need you, Mr. Calvin, to have your colleagues at the technology institute re-sign that authorization document."
Calvin's expression grew even darker.
Zane calmly averted his gaze and left.
However, as soon as he stepped out, his calm was replaced by a look of worry.
Although he had already filed for the patent, the implications in Mr. Calvin's words suggested that if the technology institute were to learn of the patent issue, it could lead to endless troubles.
A research project isn't scary; what's terrifying are the people behind it who covet the research.
Mr. Calvin did say something true: not everything can go as one wishes.
Mr. Belcher, having offered their
restituendings to the technology
institute as a favor, certainly
Wnt offend the institute over a
minor patent issue. fo
After all, the patent application could still be withdrawn before the certificate was obtained.
With a heavy heart, Zane returned to his office, thinking of the earnest effort those students put in last semester, and clenched his fist once more.
No matter what, he couldn't let the fruits of those kids' labor become someone else's!noveldrama

Back in the office, Calvin ended the call, his gaze landing on the authorization document Zane had left behind, his expression somber.
He truly hadn't expected Zane to outsmart him this time, silently applying for a patent with the documents.
Calvin closed his eyes momentarily.
Last year, Hank had frequently
asked him for documents, and he had vaguely guessed that Hank wanted to apply for a patent. Now, Zane had managed to pass the preliminary examination first...
After a moment of contemplation, Calvin reopened his eyes, picked up his mobile,
and dialed Hank's number. His finger paused before pressing the call button.
The call was picked up after just two rings, not by Hank himself, but by his assistant.
"Mr. Calvin? Is there something you need from Hank?" The assistant's tone was polite on the phone.
With a stern face, Calvin only asked, "When will Hank be available?"
Sensing that Calvin had something important to discuss, the assistant glanced at his watch. "Hank just entered the lab; it'll likely be three or four hours before he's available."
After a pause, the assistant added, "If it's something urgent, you can tell me, and I
can pass the message to Hank."
Calvin hesitated, "It's not exactly urgent..."
What do you think?
