The Forgotten Titan's Resurgence

Chapter 12

"What did you say? You want to be my wife?" Gideon was a bit stunned, but immediately, his face clouded over.

He felt like Simon had tricked him. That old man wanted to make him the Avila family's son-in-law. Was he asking to be taught a lesson?

Meanwhile, Rachel was completely serious. She thought to herself that if marrying Gideon would solve the Avila family's crisis, then she was willing to make the sacrifice.

Besides, she didn't think Gideon was as ordinary as he appeared. She knew how shrewd Simon was. If Simon valued Gideon enough to want her to marry him, it meant Gideon had some hidden power.

"Have you thought it over, Gideon? As long as you're fine with it, we can get our marriage certificate right now. I consider myself decent enough to be worthy of you," Rachel said earnestly.

Amused, Gideon shook his head. "You're indeed beautiful and very capable, but unfortunately, I'm already married."

"You're married?"

Rachel was surprised. Did Simon know Gideon was married? And if he knew, why did he still want her to marry Gideon? Was he asking her to steal Gideon away?

As her mind raced through several possibilities, Gideon simply said, "I promised Simon I'd help him out, but marrying you is out of the question. However, if you encounter any problems, feel free to contact me. Here. This is my number."

He wrote down his phone number on a slip of paper and turned to leave. Rachel quickly asked, "Wait. Who is your wife?"

"Elara Seymour."

"I've never heard of her. What's her background? Is she from Goldspire? Can I see a picture of her?"

The Seymour family was an unprestigious family with a small-time business, so it didn't surprise Gideon that Rachel had never heard of them.

"There's no need for that," Gideon replied with a shrug.

"Wait! Where is my grandfather?" Rachel called out.

"In a haven away from society." Gideon waved his hand and walked out of the office.

Rachel felt a little disappointed. Many men dreamed of spending time alone with her, yet Gideon couldn't leave fast enough.noveldrama

"Hey!"

Rachel was startled by the sudden sound, but she felt a bit smug when Gideon came back into her office.

"What is it? Have you regretted your earlier decision and decided to give it more thought?"

Gideon replied, "I wanted to ask if you know a guy named Matthew Carter."

"Matthew Carter? That name sounds familiar. He's probably from the Carter family of Goldspire."

"You know him?"

"Why do you ask? Do you hold a grudge against him?"

"No, not really," Gideon said, shaking his head. "But Matthew said he earned your recognition and that you're investing in the new company he's starting. Is that true?"

Rachel frowned as anger colored her expression. "What nonsense! I've only heard of him before. I've never even met him! How could I express any approval of him, let alone invest in his company?"

"Okay. Got it!"

Once Gideon was gone, Rachel made a call, and her secretary quickly came into the office. "Yes, Ms. Avila?"

"Find out everything you can about a woman named Elara Seymour. She's Gideon's wife. I want the information in ten minutes."

"Understood, Ms. Avila."

Ten minutes later, a stack of photos and documents sat on Rachel's desk. She skimmed through the information about Elara and the Seymour family before scoffing. “She's just the daughter of an irrelevant rich family, and yet she dares compete with me for a man!"

Rachel's secretary was left speechless.

What was this about competing for a man? What did that mean? Could it be that Rachel had taken a liking to Gideon?

The upper circle of Goldspire was buzzing over the news that Gideon, once most prominent among the Four Elites of Goldspire, had returned after going missing for five years. 1

As soon as he did, he beat up Eric and made reforms within the Snow family. Nevertheless, things had changed, and many now saw the Snow family as a shadow of its former glory, reduced to a humble state. Many looked forward to seeing Gideon become a laughingstock.

"Ms. Avila, I feel I should remind you that the Snow family has fallen from grace. Gideon is now just the head of a modest family. He's hardly a match for you. Please don't be fooled by him."

Rachel shot her secretary a cold glance. "Are you trying to teach me how to run my affairs?"

The icy glare sent shivers through the secretary, who quickly apologized and left the office, terrified.

Rachel mused to herself, "Gideon, I don't know why my grandfather holds you in such high regard, but since it was his request, I'll do as he says. But there's no reason for me to rush into seizing you for myself. First, I'll see what you're capable

of.

"I won't invest in Snow Corporation. Let's see how you manage to revive it. I want

to watch you lead the Snow family out of its troubles. And as for Elara..."

Rachel stared at the photos, deep in thought.

After leaving Avila Tower, Gideon drove back to the Seymour residence. From outside, he heard familiar voices.

"Dad, I'm back."

"Oh, Gideon, you've come at the perfect time! We've got some great news," Arnold said, beaming with joy.

Gideon noticed that Matthew was also present.

"Gid-Oh, no! I should be calling you Mr. Snow since you're the head of the Snow family now. You're quite the lucky one," Matthew remarked with a sneer.

"Lucky? What do you mean?" Gideon was nonplussed.

Elara retorted disdainfully, "Matthew found out the real reason you left Twilight Bar unharmed. It wasn't because you took down Eric's men as you claimed. It was because Anna Sullivan arrived in time."

"Leopold Sullivan, the prominent figure in Goldspire's criminal underworld, owns Twilight Bar. Therefore, his daughter Anna is someone even Eric wouldn't dare to provoke. He and his men ran off without causing a scene, which is why you got out in one piece.

"You're really something, Gideon. You're clearly useless, but you still bragged about knocking down over a dozen men. Now, your lies have been exposed. What do you have to say for yourself?"

Gideon didn't expect this confrontation, but he couldn't be bothered to explain. He wasn't interested in dealing with such petty things.

"You can think whatever you want," he said, shrugging.

He turned to Arnold and asked, "Dad, what was that great news you mentioned?"

Arnold explained, "Matthew has received the favor of Ms. Avila, who will be investing in his new company. He's offering us the chance to invest as shareholders."

Marion beamed and said, "With Ms. Avila's backing, the company will surely thrive. As shareholders, we'll be raking in the profits. Matthew, you're truly an outstanding young man! Few among your peers in Goldspire are as accomplished as you!"

She shot a mocking glance at Gideon before adding, "It's unlike someone who spent five years farming, only to come back and inherit an impoverished family. He has no shame or self-awareness at all!"

Matthew snickered. "Don't say that, Mrs. Seymour. There are experts in every field. I'm sure Gideon is an expert in agriculture after five years of farming. I bet he'll lead the Snow family into the agricultural business soon."

Both Marion and Elara burst into laughter.

Arnold frowned and quickly changed the subject. "Gideon, given the Snow family's difficulties, I've personally made an investment on your behalf. It's my way of helping out."

"Dad, how much did you invest?"

"Our family invested a total of five million dollars. I set aside one million dollars

just for you. That's all we could afford, so don't think it's too little. Once Matthew's

company takes off, the returns will multiply."

"The money has been transferred to his account?"

"Not yet. I was about to head to the bank-"

"There's no need for that." Gideon's voice turned cold. "This so-called investment

is a scam."

Matthew's expression froze before his face flushed with anger. He slammed his

hands on the table, stood up, and shouted, "What do you mean by that, Gideon?

I'm kindly offering you guys a chance to invest in my company, and you're accusing me of being a scam?

"Fine! Forget it! Mr. Seymour, Mrs. Seymour, Elara, I'm leaving."

Marion and Elara panicked and tried to stop him.

"Please, Matthew. Don't be angry. Do sit down."

"Have some coffee, Matthew."

Matthew huffed but sat back down.

Marion turned around and wagged a finger at Gideon as she screamed in fury,

"You useless fool! You just can't

stand to see someone else succeed because you're a failure yourself! You disgust

me!"
