Since middle school, Rachel had always been known as the prettiest student who also aced her studies. Throughout middle school and college, she often had people confessing their feelings for her.

Yvonne came up to Rachel. "You're part of the four beauties of Khoitwood, Rachel. Known as the icy beauty, many bachelors in Khoitwood are interested in you, and you just brush them off. How on earth could you be clinging to him?" Upon hearing Martin's and Yvonne's words, Rachel decided that she had to do something. "Oh, you don't believe me? I'll show you."

With that, Rachel walked up to Matthew. "Can you stay with me, Matthew? Let's have some steak together. I'm thinking about the couple's special."

Matthew was in a daze. It was his first time seeing Rachel acting all cutesy. Her stunning looks and her sweet voice had a unique charm.

"Sure thing. I'll come with you."

Rachel turned around to wave her hand at Martin and Yvonne. "I'm leaving now. You both should visit Grandpa at home."

Upon finishing her words, Rachel hooked her arm around Matthew's and walked off.

Martin and Yvonne were left behind in the office, gaping in surprise. They only snapped back to reality after Rachel and Matthew were far away.

Martin still couldn't wrap his head around it. "How did this happen? Rae usually doesn't pay any attention to any man. What's so great about Matthew that she's so attached to him?"

Yvonne's expression darkened as she glared at Martin. Martin was already fuming, so seeing her reaction made him snap.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Yvonne responded in a huff. "Do you seriously not know why Rachel is behaving like this? Up until her eighth grade, she was always on her best behavior. After you had an affair with the slut and had a daughter, Rae completely changed. Since then, she'd been so indifferent to both of us."

Martin softly chided, "You can't put all the blame on me. If you hadn't reconnected with your first love, would I have had an affair? Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. You don't have the right to point fingers at me."

With that, they started arguing in Rachel's office.

After they both calmed down, Martin added, "From here on out, let's drop the subject about us."

Yvonne snorted without saying a word.

Seeing that Yvonne had quieted down, Martin jumped right into the important issue. "Talon Kimble has an impressive academic background, and his family is with the military.

"Even though his grandpa isn't as high-ranking as Horace, his grandpa is still a big shot in Khoitwood's military circle.

"In any case, his grandpa is a big deal in Khoitwood's military. If Rachel marries him, the Carter family will be free from the threats. We need to set her up with him."

Yvonne sighed. "I understand what you're getting at. In my eyes, anywhere outside Khoitwood is considered rural. Lambda City is undoubtedly a rundown and remote place.

"But Rachel is obsessed with Matthew now. What can we do about it?"
