Chapter 605
However, Matthew just never showed up.
Tessa started feeling impatient as the coffee in front of her had already gone cold. She brought it up to her lips and took a sip. It was so bitter.
With a thud, she set her coffee down on the table. The coffee in the cup spilled over and splattered on the table.
Tessa angrily waved at the waiter. A young woman in her 20s walked over with a blank expression.
"Hello. Do you want another cup of coffee?"
Her words might have been respectful, but her face showed no sign of it.
Tessa pointed at her cup. "I asked for a latte. What's this coffee you served me? It's way too bitter."
The waiter calmly explained, "That coffee wasn't from me. I heard you got here this morning, but the waiter who brought you your coffee has already clocked out."
Tessa got the hint that the waiter was irritated by how long she had been sitting there. "I don't care who made my coffee. Bring your boss over here. What kind of attitude is this? If I'm the boss, I would've fired you."
The waiter nonchalantly replied, "The boss isn't around right now. If you want to talk to him, come back tomorrow. You've been here all day with just one cup of coffee and yet you still have the nerve to stir up trouble."
After saying that, the waiter ignored Tessa and spun on her heel to walk away.
Tessa was so mad that her face flushed. She couldn't believe a waiter would have the nerve to speak to her like that. She was fuming but couldn't do anything about it.
With the blazing sun, it was way too hot outside to be waiting anywhere but the coffee shop.
In the end, Tessa huffed and sat back down. She took a tissue to wipe the table and glanced at the coffee in the cup. Then, she picked it up and gently sipped it.
An overwhelming bitterness filled her mouth. That flavor made her want to puke. Right from her first coffee experience, she fell in love with lattes. The creamy flavor, the sweetness, and the smooth texture of the latte brought her joy every time she got to drink one.
The bitter coffee wasn't her thing. The taste of it was too strong.noveldrama
As the bitter flavor faded away in her mouth, Tessa recalled the recent events that had happened to her.
After the divorce, things had been rough. With the orders from Wealthwave Group gone, Randall freaked out and hid away. He was afraid of running into Tessa and getting into trouble.
The bank refused to offer any more loans to Tessa and even hounded her to pay them back.
She reached out to many people to borrow money. After calling everyone in her contacts, she ended up with nothing but rejections.
The next thing she knew, the company was forced to pay back its debts, so it went under. She lost her car and was left with a ton of debt.
A few days ago, Jennifer asked for property management fees, and Tessa couldn't come up with the money. She felt like she had hit rock bottom in her life.
Tessa picked up her coffee and took another sip. The bitter taste swirled in her mouth, hitting her with a wave of emotions that made her want to cry. She never imagined life could get this difficult.
Bad things only happened after Matthew got out of prison, and he was the reason for everything. So, Tessa harbored a deep hatred for him now.
She couldn't wait to have Dylan show up and beat Matthew to a pulp to get rid of her frustration.
Tessa's expression contorted in anger. When she noticed the strangers in the coffee shop looking her way, she finally realized she had lost her composure and wiped away her tears.
She turned her head and looked through the glass window at the entrance of Gembrooke Building across the street.
Suddenly, she spotted a fancy car pulled up at the entrance of Gembrooke Building.
As the door opened, a man stepped out of the car. It was Matthew. He was finally here.
Tessa was thrilled as she pulled out her phone to call Dylan. "Hi. The person I want to get back at just showed up."
...
In the Evans residence at Lambda City, Dylan was lecturing Keith, "Did you come back from overseas with a screw loose, you brat? I told you to lay low, but you stirred up trouble again.
"Previously, after you messed with Matthew, I had to go down on my knees so that he'd spare you. But you still hadn't learned your lesson and got into another fight again."
Keith grumbled, "Sure, our family couldn't handle Matthew, but that guy earlier was just a regular person. He should know better than to challenge me."
Dylan was furious as he snapped, "You brat! Did you forget what happened last time so soon? Matthew was a chauffeur, and he looked like just an ordinary guy. Who would have thought he was so tough? The Evans family almost got wiped out by him.
"We're not in a foreign land. People here love to keep things low-key. Just because someone looks ordinary doesn't mean he isn't a big deal behind the scenes. No more picking on regular people from now on."
What do you think?
