The Lady Nun Vows Revenge

The Silent 718

The mute slave rubbed her eyes and looked back at the corpse, but found nothing.

'Maybe I was just seeing things,' she thought, deciding not to dwell on it.

Then she reached out once more to lift the corpse on the platform.

However, in the very next moment, the mute slave's body went rigid.

Slowly, she looked down to see a hand thrust through her chest, and that hand belonged to the corpse on the platform.

"Where... am I?" the corpse rasped, its voice hoarse and grating.

The mute slave's jaw stiffly fell open.

The corpse then saw the hollow cavity where her tongue should have been.

"Useless," the corpse spat with contempt.

Then, with a sickening squelch, it plunged its hand into the mute slave's chest, yanked out her heart, and casually tossed it aside.

Ignoring the blood on her hands, she got up and paced around the secret chamber, quickly spotting an old bronze mirror.

When she looked into it and saw her stitched-together, patchwork body, Sophie's face contorted in a twisted expression of fury.

She thought, furious and bewildered, 'Damn it! What the hell is going on?!

'Wasn't I already dead? Why is my consciousness suddenly here? Did I... come back to life? But why does my body look so grotesque now?

'The face is mine, and part of my upper body too, but the rest, including my hands and feet, clearly aren't mine at all!'

Sophie examined the unfamiliar hands, then slowly raised one to touch her face.

The tangible sensation only deepened the gloom in her eyes.

Sophie frantically rummaged through every corner of the secret chamber.

'Damn it! A room full of corpses, and not a damn thing of value,' she seethed inwardly.

After turning the place upside down, she still couldn't find a single useful thing. Just then, a sudden noise echoed from outside the secret chamber.

"Someone's coming in!" Sophie's body tensed instan

her expression turning vigilant as she fixed her gaze on the chamber door.

Outside the door, Fletcher was using an intricately crafted key to unlock the secret chamber once more.

The moment the door swung open, a surge of danger made Fletcher's hair stand on end.

He jerked back abruptly, narrowly dodging a throwing dagger that came flying straight at his face.

However, that retreat and dodge gave the figure inside the perfect opening.

Before Fletcher could react, a dark shadow darted past him and bolted for the exit.

Fletcher suddenly realized what was going on. He whirled around to look inside the chamber, below the stone platform lay the dead mute maid, while the platform itself was now completely empty.

The corpse... had come to life.

Fletcher barely had time to be shocked before snapping, "Damn it! Go after it, bring that thing back to me, now!"

No matter how that corpse came back to life, it must not be allowed to escape. No

knew what disaster it could cause if it got out.

Watching the shadow guards give chase, Fletcher's face betrayed not just alarm, but a disturbing spark of excitement.

'A moving corpse, was it the parasite that had mutated, or the corpse itself?' Fletcher wondered, though he leaned toward the former.

The body was merely a stitched-together collection of dismembered parts.

No matter how much it mutated, it remained fundamentally dead. However, the corpse parasite was alive.

Fletcher thought, 'Could it be that the parasite I planted in the corpse mutated somehow, broke free from my control, and reanimated the body?"

Such an extraordinary transformation could only mean one thing; the corpse parasite had evolved into a King Parasite.

Fletcher's breath caught in his throat, his eyes blazing with manic excitement.

It had been a hundred years since a corpse parasite last evolved into a King Parasite; a single entity capable of commanding ten thousand corpses.

These were solemnly recorded in the forbidden archives of their clan.

If he could tame a King Parasite, it would be like commanding an army of ten thousand.

And not just any army, but an immortal legion. No one could possibly stand against him then.

Not even the Prince Regent, Nolan Bennet, would stand a chance against him. So, of course Fletcher was ecstatic.

He could already envision himself seated upon that throne, reigning supreme like a true king.

Meanwhile, while Fletcher remained immersed in his schemes of grandeur, Sophie had already bolted out of the Henderson family's estate.

The instant she broke free, guided by her past memories, she raced straight for the Duke's estate.

'This body feels so strange... Sophie thought.

At first, she was deeply repulsed by this patchwork form, pieced together from who knew how many corpses, But as soon as she moved, she sensed something was off.

Her lower limbs were unusually agile, her arms startlingly strong. She could dart about with incredible speed, displaying exceptional combat skills.

The stiffness from before had completely vanished. It was as if, in just moments, this stitched-together body had perfectly synchronized.

For a brief instant, she felt as if she inhabited a warrior's physique.

'This isn't just some random patchwork, someone deliberately did this! What do they want with my body?' Sophie thought, a sense of unease creeping over her. 'That place I just escaped from... it was unmistakably the Henderson family estate.

'And that man I brushed past, he's none other than Fletcher, that bitch Isabelle's father!'

Just thinking of Isabelle's name twisted Sophie's face with fury. "That treacherous witch! How dare you turn on the Queen? I swear, I'll rip you apart piece by piece!""

Upon returning to the Duke's estate, Sophie took advantage of her new body's agility, slipped into the compound with unnatural ease, and headed straight for her own quarters.

Instead of seeking out Gabriel right away, Sophie summoned a maid into the room.

With a few quick, pointed questions, she swiftly grasped the situation.

Yet this confirmation only filled Sophie with growing alarm and disbelief.noveldrama

'No... Sophie thought, her mind reeling. 'Something's off. This is just too weird!'

By now, she should've been at the Duke's estate, trampling Eliza underfoot while enjoying the exclusive favor of her father and brothers-plotting to drive her out and claim the title of rightful heir to the Stonor family.

"What the hell is going on here?!' Sophie fumed inwardly.

Eliza really was driven out, but she actually chose to become a nun herself.

Now, Sophie had fallen from grace; shunned by her father and brothers, and forced to marry that useless fool, Caleb.

'They must have all gone mad. Sophie believed she was destined to be the Empress, ruling over the entire imperial court, the rightful queen.
