A Trade
Chapter 29 A Trade
The next morning, Raven heard a knock on the door and woke up. After that, a maid entered her room to inform her that Alfredo wants her to join him for breakfast.
“Good morning Ma’am.” The maid said.
“Good morning.” Raven greeted back.
“My boss wants you to join him for breakfast this morning.” She informed Raven.
“Oh, thank you. I will after I take a shower. Thank you.” Raven replied.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
After the maid had informed Raven, she left Raven alone in her room. She got up from her bed and headed to take a shower.
While in the shower, she thought about what Alfredo said about deceiving Ramos Escobar and pretending to be his ally to gather information about him and his business so that they can use it to end him and save her father. She hates Ramos guts, but she deeply wants to help save her father and if it’s the only way to save her father, she would do it.
She knows that it might be dangerous, but ending Ramos is what she really wish for. Few days ago she almost became the asshole’s bride, but thanks to the Sanchez brothers who saved her. She would have become Ramos third wife and be sharing her bed with that piece of shit.
“Ugh the horror!” Raven said shaking her head in disgust.
After a while, she stepped out of the shower, feeling a sense of determination. She knew what she had to do.
She had to play along with Ramos and pretend to be his ally, all the while gathering information that could help the Sanchez take him down completely and then rescue her father.
She knew it would be a dangerous mission, but she had no other way to save her father.
She dressed in light, comfortable clothes and headed downstairs for breakfast. As she entered the dinning room, she saw Alfredo sitting at the head of the table, a serious expression on his face.
“Good morning, Alfredo.” Raven said.
“Good morning Raven.” Alfredo said, gesturing to the seat next to him.
“Hope you had pleasant night rest.” He asked.
“Not really. I stayed awake for a while thinking about what you said.” Raven said.
“Oh… that’s even one of the reasons I wanted to see you this morning. I know that you said you needed time, but I don’t know what Ramos could do next and your father’s life is hanging in the balance. I feel the earlier we put the plans in motion the higher chances we have to rescue your father.” Alfredo said.
“Yes, that’s why I slept quite late. I was thinking about what you said and so I made a decision this morning to do it.” Raven said.
“I’m happy you’re on board, Raven.” Alfredo said, his face softening.
“I know that this won’t be an easy mission, but I believe you’re up for the challenge. You’re brave and fearless and I like that about you. We’ll do everything we can to support you and keep you safe. I promise you that.”
“I don’t rely on anyone but myself Alfredo. The only reason I accepted to help you guys is because I need your power and influence to get that asshole once and for all and save my father.” Raven said.
“I completely understand. I know that you’re still mad at me for not telling you that your father collected a loan from Ramos for his surgery, but as I explained earlier, it was because your father was worried that he had become more like a burden to you. He realized that because of him, you’re not living the life any normal young lady should live.” Alfredo said.
“What kind of life?” Raven asked, her face serious.
“You know… going out on dates and hanging out with friends and all…” Alfredo said.
“My father knew from time that I don’t have friends and I can barely keep a relationship because those guys are dick heads that all they want is Fuck!” Raven explained. “I love my father and I will do anything I can to save him and I’ll do whatever it takes to bring that son of a bitch down.”
“That’s the spirit.” Alfredo said with a small smile.”Let’s eat and discuss the details of the plan shall we?”
“Sure.” Raven said as she poured herself a cup of coffee and tried to focus on eating, but her mind kept racing.
What would this mean for her, pretending to be Ramos’ ally and providing him information about the Sanchez brothers to gain his trust and then betray him.
Honestly, it felt really good and dangerous, but she isn’t someone who gets scared and then chicken out on a mission especially a mission that involved rescuing her father. She took a deep breath and focused on the moment, savoring the warmth of the coffee and the smell of the fresh baked bread.
“So what’s the plan?” Raven asked
“What you’ll need to do is this….”
“It’s me, Raven.”
“Raven? Ramos exclaimed.
“Yes, it’s me. Look I don’t have long to explain, but I need you to come get me.” Raven said.
“Where are you and how did you get a phone to call me?” Ramos asked.
“Well, let’s just say I borrowed it while the security man is using the bathroom, but as I said I don’t have long. I want to make a trade.” Raven said.
“A trade?” Ramos asked.
“Yes a trade.” Raven said, her voice low.
“You’ve a lot of nerve trying to make a trade after you double crossed me.” Ramos said.
“I didn’t double cross you alright. I was kidnapped by people who want you dead obviously and so they thought I was some precious bride of yours not knowing you were forcing me to marry you to save my father.” Raven said.
“So you didn’t plan the attack?” Ramos asked.
“No, you dickhead. The Sanchez brothers did and they want to kill you. But I want to make a trade.” Raven said.
“What’s the catch?” Ramos asked.
“I’ll get close to them and pretend to be an ally, but would be providing you valuable information about their businesses and whereabouts of their drugs warehouses. How about that?” Raven said.
“Do you really think I will trust a word that comes out of your God damn mouth?” Ramos asked.
“Well it’s up to you. Left to me I really want to put a bullet through that skull of yours, but I can’t because I want to save my father. So just trust me when I say so you asshole.” Raven said.
Ramos knew that he couldn’t trust Raven not after what the Sanchez brothers did. Could he really trust any word that comes out of Raven’s mouth? For all he knew, they might be the one who forced Raven to make the trade and set a trap to catch and kill him. He had to be careful.
But the thought of getting valuable information about the Sanhez brothers and using it to destroy them once and for all made his heart glad. He was torn, unsure of what to do. Finally he spoke.
“You’re asking me to trust you, when you’ve given me no reason to,” he said. “I understand that you’re trying to help your father, but I need more than just your word. I need proof that you’re on my side.”
With a deep breath, Raven steeled her resolve. She knew what she had to do – she had to be fearless and decisive, no matter what. The fate of her father depended on it.
