Chapter 27
Zachary rubbed his throbbing head and followed Anya into the villa.
As soon as they entered the villa, Anya headed straight to the kitchen.
Not thinking much of it, Zachary changed his shoes and was about to go upstairs.
Just as he reached the bottom of the staircase, he heard Anya's voice coming from the kitchen.
"What's the rush? Drink some honey water before you go up!"
He then saw Anya walking over with a glass of warm honey water.
After handing the cup to him, she huffed and turned to march upstairs without looking back.
Zachary was speechless. However, he felt touched and decided to thank her.
But before he could do so, Anya's annoyed voice rang out from the stairwell. "Don't bother thanking me! After all, you're the boss!"
"So, she finally realizes that I'm the boss now?"
With a helpless smile, Zachary blew on the warm honey water and began taking small sips.
After drinking the honey water, his stomach settled. The discomfort from drinking on an empty stomach eased, leaving him feeling warmer and more comfortable.
Once he finished the honey water, he went upstairs to wash up.
As Zachary lay on his bed, he recalled what Ellen had told him at the grill house.
Wendy had deceived him from the start. She had never truly loved him and had only seen him as a stand-in for Ethan.
The thought still brought a sharp sting to his heart.
In the past, Zachary might have held back from acting against Wendy out of respect for their five years together. But now that he had found out the truth, nothing could stop him anymore.
Someone who toyed with others' emotions and betrayed their trust deserved neither sympathy nor pity. Such people were certainly unforgivable. Those who had done others wrong would eventually face retaliation.
There were still two hours until sunrise and five hours before he had to go to work.
Zachary closed his eyes and soon drifted off to sleep.
At 7:30 am, Zachary woke up as usual.
After washing up, he went downstairs to make breakfast.
Just as he was done, Anya came downstairs. Her expression was still cold, and
she exuded a sense of distant indifference.
She didn't even glance at Zachary as she headed for the door.
Zachary rubbed his nose and said, "Hey, have some breakfast. I need to talk to you."
"I'm not eating. Just say what you need to say," Anya replied sternly.
She was clearly distancing herself from him.
Zachary frowned as his tone turned cold. "I asked you to come over!"
"Are you yelling at me?"
Anya frowned, and her breathing became noticeably heavier. Her chest rose and fell, and it looked rather enticing.
Upon seeing this, Zachary sighed and
than ok his head. "I just wat
thank you for picking me up last night and for the honey water."
Anya's expression softened at his words, but she still feigned indifference. "Anything else?"
"Huh? What else?" Zachary looked utterly puzzled.
Anya had just calmed down when his obliviousness provoked her again. "Is that
your way of admitting your mistakes?"noveldrama
"Admitting what? What did I do wrong?" Zachary was baffled.
Anya reprimanded him, "We live
together, yet you've stayed out late
two nights in a row. How can you say that you've done nothing wrong?"
"Don't twist things. We're just sharing the same place. How does that count as living together?"
Zachary immediately tried to set
things straight. If word got
would impact not only Anuitet
Vernet
reputation but his own as well.
What do you think?
