The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha

"Why are you giving me that look?"

"I don't know you never fail to surprise me"

"I don't have a plan"

She tactfully omitted the word yet. As if sensing it anyway, Nathaniel narrowed his eyes and Alexandra cleared her throat.

"You have to tell me"

Leaning towards him she whispered. "Get some rest. The walls they say have ears"

"As you said" Nathaniel lays down and closed his eyes. Alexandra stared at him, he looked so peaceful as he drift off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a long day but she would have to make certain Adam doesn't get what he wanted.

Falling back beside him, she closes her eyes as well as darkness soon takes over her.

The day draws to another crimson-grey day. Nathaniel tapped his finger on the ground continually creating an annoying staccato. He wanted to get out of the Guerrero cell. He wanted to be back to his pack with Alexandra by his side but most importantly he wanted to vindicate her.

The rumour Adam had spread has given his pack the impression that Alexandra was weak and doesn't deserve to be the Luna but she was not weak. She was nothing like Adam rumoured her to be and she never had an affection for him.

If she did, she would have jumped right unto the first opportunity to get rid of him and stay next to Adam but Alexandra didn't do any of that. Instead she didn't give up until she made sure he was alright.

"What's wrong with you?" She asked and he paused.

"Everything here is wrong"

Alexandra grinned. "You have not been held up in a cell before"

"I hold people not the other way"

Alexandra holds his hand. It was irritating having him tapping his hand against the floor.

"You're gonna hurt your self"

"I won't. It helps me calm my nerves. Actually, is the only thing stopping me from reaching across and strangling any of these guards that walks in here"

"I'm here to calm your nerves" Alexandra caresses his hand and Nathaniel smiled. "Keep doing that"

Alexandra pauses. "You're so cheesy"

"Why did you stop?" Nathaniel frowned

"Because you're so cheesy"

"Only when it comes to you"

"So is me all the time"

"Not always" Nathaniel lied.

Alexandra arched up her brow at him. "Who is it then?"

"Just one person. Only you"

Alexandra blushed. "Why are always so cheesy?"

"When I'm with you I can't help it that's why" He grinned and she help but roll her eyes. She missed doing this, only Nathaniel can make her feel happy and angry at the same time.

"As if you -" Alexandra choked on her words hearing footsteps approaching.

The slow yet calculated steps could only belong to one man and Alexandra hated it was Adam. He couldn't wait to show his face and although she had anticipated for his arrival, was suddenly saddened seeing him standing out side the cell looking at her. His gaze wicked.

"Is time" He said.

Alexandra stood up. "Time for what? Your coronation?"

"I organized a pack wide event so we must go" He unlocked the cell.

"I thought it was going to be -"

"What's the difference?" He cuts her off in a boorish manner

"Are you pissed off?" Alexandra arched up her brow indicating that he had lost the deal.

She saved Nathaniel and she will fight him.

"You cannot get away even if your lover has been saved"

"My mate. Nathaniel is my mate"

"I get it now you better do as I say or else I will kill him"

"Do you think you can kill him?"

Adam looked deep into his eyes. "I already killed him once and won't hesitate doing it again and this time I will make sure you cannot save him"

"You sound so sure" Alexandra admit. She wondered what was making Adam this brave but it didn't matter because she was going to run away with Nathaniel when the time comes. She wasn't going to hand over her position to him just so he would tarnish her image.

"I have never been sure about anything than his death. You should know I have played watching him die over and over again"

Nathaniel studies his eyes, the lines on his face. Something about him was off but he just couldn't figure out what was wrong. Adam sounded so convinced, very certain that he can get rid of him which means it wasn't just war he was implying. He meant something else but what is it?

"Your mind must be playing trick on you"

"Is yours that I think has gotten into your head so you think you can beat me"

"Just curious about one thing"

"What is it?" She had a feeling what he was going to ask but Alexandra would love

to play the devil's game with him.

"How did you save him?"

"What's that I use to say?"

Adam arched his brow. "What's that?"

"Curiosity is what killed the cat"

Adam grinned. "Alexandra. You got some nerve"

"Told you I was born with it"

"When people are curious over things they shouldn't be and go about snooping

around. It gets them killed"

"So in essence, what are you saying?"

"Learn to avoid asking silly questions else you will die"

Adam clenches his jaw glaring at her. "You are really something else"

"Told you there is no one like me"

Adam holds the bars. "I can see that but then remember that you messed with the wrong monster"

"No. I am messing with the right one"

"Look around you Alexandra there is no monster like me and I will prove that to you today"

"You want the Alpha position"

"Is already mine. You are here to plead your guilt in front of the pack so I can be leader else I will kill Nathaniel Starkov without blinking an eye"

Alexandra glared at him and he glared back at her. The tension not ebbing away.
