The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha

Chapter 6: The Proposal

"Tell me why" Nathaniel whispers.

Without uttering a word, Alexandra stares into his eyes for a second, dropping her gaze, and looking at Adams who was now advancing toward them, with slow yet calculated steps. A lot of things ran through his mind, he had not expected to find her with another man.

By this time, Nathaniel hadn't noticed Adam till his peripheral vision caught sight of him, dropped his gaze on Alexandra, and looked at Adam, he could tell what was running through his mind but Nathaniel knew better than to keep silent.

"Who is he?" Adams whispers, his eyes firmly and unblinking.

Alexandra scoffs, the audacity of him to demand such an explanation.

"Who is he?" Adams asks, his voice aloud.

"He's my mate" Alexandra blurts without taking a moment to think it through "He's my true mate" Her eyes soften as she gawks into Nathaniel's eyes, warm and affectionate.

Alexandra engulfs him tightly, her arms wrapped around his torso causing Adams's eyes to widen, shocked.

Never did he imagine seeing her with another man, a surge of adrenaline rushed through his body, and his blood boils as he stares at Alexandra. Adams clenches his jaw, narrowing his eyes, and his face turns red, filled with anger. He walks away and Alexandra quickly detaches herself from Nathaniel.

Bewildered by her action, attempts to say something but on second thought pushes it aside, locking her eyes with Alexandra.

"Give me an explanation why I'm being rejected. No. Why you are rejecting me as your mate when you've felt the bond between us"

Alexandra scoffs, she had thought they were past this. Biting gently on her lower lips, her eyes cold and unblinking. "You know come to think of it, this is all your fault"

Nathaniel raises his brow, uncertain of what she was implying.

Alexandra runs her hand through her hair, her plan had been going smoothly until he showed up holding her against her wish and demanding an explanation for something she felt was barbaric. "You are to blame for all of this, I already told you that I'm not interested yet you are still demanding an explanation. Tell me what's your motive?"

"What?" Nathaniel runs his hand through his hair

"Or perhaps are you in love with me? Is it love at first sight?"

Nathaniel scoffs, unbelievably, his adrenaline rushes up, molds his fist for a moment, and exhales deeply, calming his nerves. "We are true mates"

"Really?" She states, a bit sarcastic

"Yes, we are mates Alexandra. I wouldn't be standing here trying to convince you

if we weren't mates. You are not the only pretty girl you know"

Alexandra scoffs, unbelievably aware of what he was implying. "News flash for you, I don't think of you as my mate"

"Why?"

"I don't believe in this barbaric tradition. Mate bond" she scoffs, ridiculously. "Why?"

"Doesn't it feel like a total joke to you?"

Nathaniel gazes intently at her, trying to figure out what was running through her head, his wolf howls loudly, urging him not to let her go. He could tell his wolf craved for her and so he couldn't let her go, not when he had already discovered who she was.

With a lot of things running through his mind, Nathaniel shoots sharply. "Marry me"

"What?" Alexandra states, bewildered.

"You're an Alpha Alexandra so you know what marriage means to an Alpha's position"

Gazing intently at him, Alexandra could see right through him. "And then what?"

"We figure out the rest together but first I need your help to stabilize my pack and in exchange, I will help you with whatever you need so we don't have to owe each other anything"

"A marriage by agreement sounds like prison to me"

"Is not Alexandra, what more could be better than this"

"I don't know" she rolls her eyes, the thought of having a mate again never

escaped her mind let alone marriage.

"Is a win-win situation for us"

"How?"

"You could get what you want and I will get mine as well"

"What makes you think I want something?"

"I'm not a fool Alexandra, everyone always wants something"

Nathaniel scoffs, he was no fool, even though he wasn't aware of the entire story,

he had a clue what was running through her mind and that made his mind itch with curiosity

"What if I don't want anything?"

"Then I will bluntly call you a liar"

Alexandra chuckles, deep within her, she was aware that he wasn't far from the truth. She wanted something so badly that it made her blood boil just thinking about it.

A soft wind blows, as Nathaniel gazes intently into Alexandra's eyes and she gazes back at him, trying to figure him out, silence fills the air for a long moment.

Alexandra nods affirmatively, walking past him, and moving towards the river with Nathaniel trailing behind.

"Okay" she whispers

"What?" He states, uncertain of what she implying

"Let's get married" turning around, she stares into his eyes. "I'm going to comply with your proposal"

A little smile creeps on Nathaniel's lips, he was worried for a moment if she would accept his proposal since he wasn't head over heels for her.

"Are you going to gawk all day or are we going to pick a date?"

Yes, Of course, we should"

"Do you have a day in mind?"

"After the next full moon"

"You do realize when that is right?"

"I'm not the kind of Alpha who loves to waste time"

"Of course" Alexandra runs her hand through her hair and Nathaniel observes her. Walking closer to him, Alexandra closes the space between them. "Do me a favor"

"What sort?"

"Don't interfere in my business and we will not have a problem"

Nathaniel nods affirmatively. "I'm not that sort of man"noveldrama

"Cool," she smiles but it didn't reach her eyes. Dropping her gaze on him, averts her eyes towards the river, staring intently at the calm river.

Nathaniel gawks at her, wondering what was running through her mind. A lot of things run through his head, his mind itching intently to unravel the truth and he couldn't hold it any longer.

The curiosity knocked him off his feet, yearning for nothing more than to feed his mind.

"Do you love him?" He whispers
