The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 743

So, had something really happened to Noelle? Was she really dead?

No, that couldn't be possible. But if she wasn't, then why couldn't Hendrix find a single trace of her? Even when he had already exhausted all his connections and resources. And more importantly, if she were still alive, how could she not send him even the slightest message?

This was a possibility Hendrix had considered before, but he had never been able to accept it.

Now, his worst fears had been confirmed. The one thing that had kept him going all this time crumbled in an instant. He stood frozen, unable to react.

At that moment, the men charged at him, their weapons aimed directly at him.

Even though he had gone stiff and no longer had the will to live, Hendrix instinctively raised his arm as the blade came down.

The blade struck his arm, and the sharp pain snapped him back to reality. He kicked the man in front of him away. Then, he opened the car door and got inside without hesitation.

"Don't let him escape!" Ricky shouted.

But Hendrix had no intention of running. He simply started the car, his expression blank. He then gripped the steering wheel with his still bleeding arm and slammed on the accelerator.

"What the hell is going on these days?" Jerry Ortiz cursed after hanging up the phone. "Clearwater Hollow was supposed to have been cleared out years ago! How are there still people fighting there? It must be those reckless punks again!"

No one in the police station dared to respond.

Just as Jerry was about to continue, the phone rang again. His anger hadn't subsided, so his "hello" was filled with irritation. But the moment he heard who was on the other end, his attitude shifted instantly.noveldrama

"Chief Warren, yes, yes, it's me. What did you say?"

Jerry's expression changed, and he quickly replied, "Don't worry. I'll handle this seriously. I'll bring my men over right away. Rest assured. I'll make sure everything is taken care of."

As soon as he hung up, he didn't waste a second explaining to those around him. He simply pointed at few officers and headed out. But before they could get into their cars, a police vehicle pulled into the station. .

Jerry glanced at the newcomer, and after confirming his identity, he immediately put on a smile and strode over.

"Mr. Freeman, hello, hello! Oh, you're injured! Should we take you to the hospital first?"

"No, that won't be necessary." Hendrix was wearing only a shirt, looking particularly bleak in the chilly autumn weather. But he didn't seem to feel the cold at all-his face was completely expressionless. His handsome features carried an icy edge, as if covered in frost.

Jerry didn't dare say more. Instead, he quickly instructed someone to take Hendrix in for questioning.

Hendrix followed slowly behind them. Blood was still dripping from the wound on his arm. But he sat on the couch without even a frown, as if he couldn't feel the pain at all.

"Mr. Freeman, what is your relationship with those people?" the officer in front of him asked cautiously.

Hendrix didn't respond. His eyes were downcast, his expression somber, as if lost

in thought. With each passing second, his face grew even paler.

"Mr. Freeman?" the officer's voice came again.

Only then did Hendrix slowly look up and answer, "I don't know them."
