Chapter 71

Kyle rushed over early in the morning. The next day, upon learning that Walter had a late-night health scare, Kyle rushed over early in the morning.
At that time, Walter hadn't fully recovered yet; he was barely propped up against the headboard. His shirt was open, and his bony arms stretched out from under the covers. After checking his heartbeat, Kyle's slender fingers rested lightly on Walter's pulse. Noticing Kyle's silence, Walter raised an eyebrow. "Am I worse off than before?" Even the usually gentle Kyle couldn'
help but give him a cold glare.
He withdrew his hand and adjusted Walter's blanket. "You're probably the only person who would joke about your health like this."
Walter just smiled and said I smiled and said nothing.
Kyle looked serious as he replied, "Even though I delve deeper into medical pharmacology, I can still pick up on regular pulses. Walter, your health is actually a bit better than the last time I checked." Hearing this, the corners of
Walter's
in lips curled slightly. "Isn't that a good thing?"
"Exactly
because it's good news that I checked several times to be sure," Kyle said, his face lighting up. "It seems like you've held on and finally found some hope; those medicines aren't useless after all." The real help isn't the medicine; it's the people," Walter said slowly.
Kyle looked puzzled. "People?"
Walter Walter didn't hold back
hold back and directly explained, "Shakira has done acupuncture on me a few times, and it really worked- much better than those meds." Kyle's expression showed surprise, but he quickly regained his composure.
Walter studied his expression and suddenly found it amusing. "Your reaction to Shakira's acupuncture skills isn't as strong as I expected."This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"You never keep outsiders around, but Ms. Nelson is an exception. I had some guesses about that," Kyle answered honestly, his expression unchanged, his handsome features revealing no flaws. Walter stared at him for a moment before bursting into laughter "You really are Mr. White; just one meeting and you've figured me out."
Kyle thought for a moment and asked, "Is it because of Ms. Nelson's medical skills that you've kept her close?"
Walter chuckled. "Yes and no."
That answer was hard to decipher. Kyle's expression shifted slightly, and he couldn't help but ask, "About the necklace owner you wanted me to find-who is it?"
"You've met her," Walter said directly, since it was just the two of them in the room. "The one I asked you to bring before- Berry."
This time, Kyle's face showed surprise. He muttered in disbelief, "How could it be her?" Shouldn't it be...'
Walter found his reaction interesting. "I thought you were different from Calton and Gavin, but it turns out you're much more concerned about my gossip than Shakira's matter."
"That's not it..." Kyle hesitated for a moment but said, "I remember you asked me to help you find someone. Even though I didn't know their gender, I do recall you said they were agile, quirky, and clever-none of that sounds like Berry."
"True, it doesn't fit." Walter thought of the person from his memory, wearing a half-moon fox mask, full of mischief-so different from the timid Berry. He lowered his eyes, his voice dropping unconsciously. "The necklace isn't wrong; Berry was abroad at that time, her exact whereabouts are a mystery, and she suffered a head injury which caused some memory loss- maybe that has affected her." Kyle frowned deeply, falling silent.
Just then, Shakira knocked and entered. Seeing Kyle and Walter sitting face to face, with Walter's shirt wide open, it was quite a sight. Two strikingly handsome men, the scene was incredibly harmonious. Shakira covered her eyes. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know you two were... I'll leave now."
Before she could fully close the door, Walter's teeth clenched as he called out, "Shakira, get in here!"
Shakira immediately pushed the door open, obediently wiping the smirk off her face.
Walter's expression darkened. "What did you mean by that just now?"
Shakira
shook her hea head in
denial. "I didn't mean anything, sir."
"Oh please, you clearly found it amusing!"
She thought, Walter must be feeling guilty!'
Kyle cleared his throat and spoke up to ease the tension. "Since Walter's okay, I'll take my leave now." Turning around, he faced Shakira while turning his back to Walter. In Walter's blind spot, Kyle discreetly pointed at his phone. Shakira smoothly shifted her gaze. "Mr. White, take care! I won't see you off," she said, but when she caught Walter's icy glare, she instantly played innocent.
After taking care of Walter's washing up and breakfast, Shakira returned to her room. Her phone quietly held two messages
Kyle: [Tomorrow night at Veiled Vine]
Xanthe: [You got my tasks done? Just a small thing!]
A smile tugged at the corners of Shakira's lips.

Lago grumbled and reluctantly sent the documents to Finn the next day. While he was at it, he made an unexpected discovery. It turned out that the official in charge of the Southville development, Arturo Joyce's secretary, had ties to Jessie's father. To be specific, they were from the same hometown, and Jessie's father had helped him out. Lago worked hard to get in touch and arranged a meeting, also inviting the Nelson family along. Lago really put in the effort and reserved an SVIP ward at Veiled Vine. At seven that evening, Lago and his wife, along with Cody, Finn, and the key intermediary Yvette, stood at the entrance of Veiled Vine, waiting for Arturo to arrive.
It was lightly raining that night, drizzling softly. Veiled Vine was hidden away in the old town and rarely known to outsiders. Moreover, they only served familiar guests and required reservations in advance, making it eerily quiet even during peak dining hours.
Yvette was attending a business dinner like this for the first time. Seeing that there wasn't a single fly around Veiled Vine, she felt a bit dissatisfied. She discreetly tugged at Jessie's sleeve, her voice laced with disdain, "Isn't it a bit low-class to invite Mr. Joyce here? We should at least go to a seven-star hotel."
Lago nearly widened his eyes in disbelief. riously? Is Veiled Vine low-class?"

Finn patiently explained to his sister, "Veiled Vine is more business-oriented and keeps a low profile. We can't be too loud about meeting Mr. Joyce; there's no place more suitable than Veiled Vine in Crescentville." Yvette finally understood, her face flushing slightly. "I didn't know better; thanks for the heads-up,
Lago quickly added. "I specifically checked with the butler; there are only two tables reserved tonight. Aside from us, there's only one other table, so we won't run into anyone else." Cody glanced at his watch. "It's about time: Should be here soon."
Just as he finished speaking, a black Volkswagen
Owly pulled up in front of Veiled Vine.
"Such an ordinary car! It must be our Mr. Joyce serving the public!" Lago exclaimed excitedly, quickly grabbing the umbrella beside him to go greet the car.
The car door slowly opened, and a person in the back seat bent down to get out-
