Chapter 0322
Kane POV
"Knox!" I shouted, rushing to his side in a blind panic. My heart hammered in my chest as I dropped to my knees beside him. "Let me see," I urged, trying to pry his hand away to assess the wound. The sight of so much blood made my stomach churn. "Didn't... see it coming," he gasped, breathing laboured. His attempt at a smile was feeble, the colour draining rapidly from his cheeks.
"Stay with me, brother," I urged, pressing a hand against the wound to stem the bleeding. It was just a blade wound; it didn't even look silver. Why wasn't he healing? Fear tightened its grip on me as I realised his body showed no signs of mending. "Touching. But futile." Sebastian's taunting laughter echoed around us.
"Chase! Silence him!" I barked, unable to keep the desperation out of my voice. Chase didn't hesitate. He lunged at Sebastian, blades flashing. The two clashed in a fierce exchange, metal ringing against metal. I focused back on Knox, but my hands trembled. This couldn't be happening. He was my brother-I couldn't lose him, not now when we were just getting back on the same page.noveldrama
"Why aren't you healing?" I whispered, pressing harder against the wound. His blood was warm against my hands, a stark reminder of how real this was. Chase returned moments later, his hands coated in blood. Sebastian lay on the floor behind him, quiet and still. "Silenced," Chase nodded, tearing a strip from his sweatpants-Charlotte's pink sweatpants, actually. The scent of her enveloped me, a bittersweet reminder of why we were here. I pressed the fabric against Knox's side, hoping it would help. He managed a weak, lopsided smile.
"Guess Havoc isn't invincible after all," he murmured a hint of amusement in his eyes despite the pain.
"Prick!" I scoffed before narrowing my eyes on him. "Save your strength," I insisted, licking my suddenly dry lips. Anxiety gripped my core. This couldn't be happening. Not to Knox. Not now. Chase's eyes widened as Sebastian stirred behind him.
"I slit your throat," he gasped. "I didn't want to, but I had to." He stared at his bloodied hands, disbelief etched on his face.
"Yeah, it didn't stick," Sebastian laughed, shaking his head as he rose to his feet. Only then did I notice the eerie red glimmer in his eyes as he looked at Knox and I.
"Touching. But futile." Sebastian took a step forward.
"He's possessed," I thought, a chill running down my spine. But Rolo, my wolf, whispered a different possibility.
"No, he's being controlled," Rolo suggested. It made more sense a puppet dancing on demonic strings.
"You're going to pay for this," I snarled, rage igniting within me like wildfire. I stood, positioning myself between Knox and Sebastian.
"Big words," he scoffed. "But you're outmatched." A sudden flash of movement caught my eye. From the shadows, Leigh emerged, positioning himself beside Sebastian. His expression was cold, disdain etched into every line of his face. He looked at us as though we were nothing more than obstacles in his path.
"Father?" I breathed, disbelief and betrayal washing over me. My heart sank as I felt Knox tense beside me.
"Sorry, sons," Leigh said coldly. "But alliances have shifted."
"How could you?" I demanded, hurt and anger warring within me. "Knox was right-you're no Alpha. I trusted you, bent over backwards to make you happy, attended all those meetings, and for what? For you to betray us? Did you always want me to fail?"
"I never wanted you to fail, Kane. You were my only hope," Leigh admitted, his tone strangely sincere. "But your brother complicated things. You kept choosing him over your pack. How can I let you lead when Knox will be the one to destroy it?"
"That's not true!" I shouted. "Knox is part of this pack. We're stronger together." Chase glanced back at us, his eyes full of pity. He tightened his grip on his blades, ready for whatever came next.
"Figures he'd show his true colours now," Knox gritted his teeth, each word a struggle. His pain was evident, but so was his determination.
"Family reunions are always so heartwarming," Sebastian chuckled, his stance relaxed, amusement dancing in his crimson-tinged eyes. I stood taller, squaring my shoulders.
"We can still take them," I said, more to convince myself than anything. The odds weren't in our favour, but I refused to back down.
"Perhaps," Leigh mused, a cruel
smile on his ps. "But at what cost?" The chamber began to quake

from the ceiling. The instability was growing more dangerous by the second. Dust filled the air, making it hard to breathe.
"We need to get out of here," Chase urged, his eyes meeting mine with urgency. "This place is coming down!"
"Not without Charlotte," I insisted, my resolve unwavering. "I won't leave without her."
"Like I said, you'll never reach her in time," Sebastian smirked. Never had I wanted to kill someone more than I did him at that moment.
"Enough!" I roared, shifting back into Rolo mid-leap as I lunged at Sebastian. My claws extended, teeth bared. But he moved like smoke, slipping away just as I thought I had him. The surprise attack threw him off balance, but not enough. Chase seized the opportunity, engaging Leigh with swift strikes. Their blades clashed loudly amidst the rumbling chaos. Sparks flew as metal met metal. I turned briefly to check on them, and in that split second, Sebastian vanished into the shadows. "He's gone!" I growled through mindlink, frustration boiling over.
"Go!" Knox shouted weakly from behind me. "Find her!"
"Rolo, what do we do?" I asked internally, desperation creeping in.
"We have to go after her," Rolo urged. "Knox can hold on. Chase is with him. Thesitated, torn between helping my wounded brother and pursuing Sebastian. Seeing Knox lying there, his wound still bleeding, though it had slowed-a bad sign. He was defenceless.
"I'll take care of him," Chase assured me, nodding toward Knox as if he knew what was going on inside my head. "You need to find Lottie. If anyone can save her, it's you."
I looked back at Knox. His eyes met mine, filled with determination despite the pain.
"Go," he mouthed weakly.
"Hang on, okay? I'll be back." I commanded through mindlink, my nose nudging my brother's side tenderly.
He gave a faint nod. "Just... bring her home." With a reluctant nod, I turned and sprinted down the only other exit from the chamber, chasing after the fading sound of Sebastian's footsteps. The tunnel was dark, the floor uneven and treacherous. The walls shook, bits of debris falling as the entire place threatened to collapse.
"Hold on, Charlotte," I pleaded. "I'm coming."
The corridor seemed endless, each step fraught with danger as the floor crumbled beneath me. Fear licked at my spine, the nagging worry that I'd made the wrong choice that I'd left Knox and Chase to suffer. "Focus," Rolo reminded me. "She needs us."
I pushed forward, leaping over gaps where the ground had given way. The air grew thick with dust, making it hard to see. My lungs burned, but I couldn't stop.
A distant scream echoed through the tunnel-familiar and, terrified. My heart lurched. "Charlotte!" I shouted, picking up the pace.
