Chapter 260 You Are the Key
Chapter 260 You Are the Key
Pearl crossed her arms, feeling uncomfortable.
Most people didn't have signs. They just had a fever or caught a cold, but their family called to report it,
which was so sarcastic.
In the face of life and death, were human beings so unpredictable?
Looking at the red spots on her body, Pearl thought that she didn't want to put Robert at risk.
However, she didn't want to die. She was expecting something.
After several days, although it was a mess outside, Jane was living peacefully. These days, she and
William had been staying together all the time. Since they got married, they had never stayed together
like this.
No matter what happened outside, raining or windy. Even the world was changing so fast, as long as
they could live like normal couples, they would be content. They had so much to do at home. They
could walk, talk, cook and play games.
Although life seemed peaceful, Jane knew that they and other people were going through a big
challenge.
Every evening at six o'clock, Jane would watch the news with William in the living room. The situation
in City J had not recovered. It was still a mess, and the situation was getting worse.
The supermarkets were empty. Some families who didn't buy enough food had to come to relatives or
friends for help.
But at this time, people were all selfish. No one knew when this chaos would end. Some people would
rob others to get what they wanted.
Every day, some people would get hurt or die for snatching the food. Policemen could do nothing to
these crazy people.
All the experts in virus worldwide couldn't find a way to contain the RS virus.
At this time, those people who made the virus had revealed their ambition. They controlled people with
panic. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
The Evil Organization could manipulate whoever they wanted with the cure for the RS virus.
Businessmen, statesmen, and the talents in every industry would give in when they were facing the
virus.
Unfortunately, the organization made a mistake. They didn't have a cure for the RS virus. After the virus
mutated, the cure they made at first was not useful anymore.
So, now everyone was racing against time.
Now, whoever could find out the cure first would become the target of The Underground Network.
So, the Underground Network could not get the cure, or they would ruin the world.
"This is the most horrifying part about The Underground Network. They are greedy. They want to be the
dominator of the world," Jane said.
She trembled a bit. The Underground Network had been preparing this for years or more than ten
years. So, if they wanted to save the world, they needed help.
Now, drugs were their hope. Jane hoped that Robert could do something great.
"Yes, but you have to believe that spring would not be far away since winter has come," William said.
He held Jane in his arms and comforted her softly. In the future, he would protect her. He had stopped
his work now and was waiting until things turned better.
"I believe you, but I am not that strong," Jane said.
Jane thought that if she contracted the RS virus, she would commit suicide instead of taking revenge
on society. She was afraid of people's judging, but she was a part of society. So, death was her best
choice.
Her husband and children were her support.
She was lucky compared with most people.
Jane thought that the Floyds had got a chance to slow things down and pick up strength during the
outbreak of the RS virus.
However, they gained what they sowed. Jane hoped that they would do the right thing.
With William's accompany these days, Jane felt good until Robert came back.
Robert had left for one and half a month. He was a mess, with his stubbly cheeks. He must have not
taken a shower for a long time.
"Robert, did you contract the virus?" William said.
William and Jane found Robert smelly when he came in, so they stepped back to the corner of the
sofa.
"William, I am sorry. I was in too much of a hurry," Robert said.
For the past half month, he was staying in the laboratory. He even ate in it because for him, the
meaning of eating was to keep him alive. To save time, he tried not to use too much of the bathroom.
Things like taking a shower would take him too much time, so Robert omitted this procedure.
Robert was in a hurry to come back, so he took the private plane of The Duncan Group.
"I am so worried about Pearl. She is alone in the Quarantine Zone," Robert said.
After he said so, he realized that he spilled the beans.
Jane stood up suddenly and asked, "What did you say? Why is Pearl in the Quarantine Zone? Tell me!"
"Jane, sit down first," William comforted.
He knew that he couldn't keep it from Jane, so he pulled Jane to sit down. He wanted her to calm
down.
"What happened? Why is Pearl in Quarantine Zone?" Jane asked again.
She turned on her phone and asked, "Then who is the one chatting with me on the phone these days?"
"Jane, I can explain," William said.
He glared at Robert and then said patiently, "It is Pearl who was talking to you. I went to the Quarantine
Zone with Frederic and brought her phones and some other things."
Pearl had told William not to tell Jane, and William agreed. He didn't want Jane to worry.
"I thought that she is fine like me," Jane said.
She kept in touch with Pearl recently, so Pearl was still alive.
Jane looked at Robert, hoping that he could tell her the truth.
Jane knew that she couldn't believe William because he had considered every word he said to make
things easier for her to accept.
"It's basically what William had said. Pearl had red spots on her body, so, someone reported her. Then
she was brought to the Quarantine Zone," Robert said.
He scratched his hair and then his hand was full of dandruff. He felt so embarrassed.
As a doctor, he had always been a clean freak and had never been so unkempt.
"Are you sure?" Jane asked, frowning.
No one knew very well about the Quarantine Zone. But Jane could imagine how desperate one could
be to be locked in that place. People in it could only wait for death.
Jane didn't know how to bring Pearl out.
"Yes, but..." Robert hesitated.
He didn't know how to express his feelings now. He was so sad and he was repressing his feelings. He
wanted to be with Pearl at once even if he had to die with her. But things were not clear between them.
So, Robert could only focus on the experiments.
"For example, what would you do if William was quarantined?" he asked.
Robert wanted to know Jane's answer. He was not cursing William. He was just confused and didn't
know what to do. He thought that maybe he could find the answer through his friends.
"No matter what happens in the future, I have to be with him," Jane said.
Jane wanted to follow her heart. People could say that she was selfish, but she was not going to leave
William. Whatever it was the RS virus or other disasters, no one could separate them.
"I understand," Robert said.
He sighed. That was also his answer. Life was full of regrets, and the moon was not always round.
"Jane, I will go to be with her. She should be frightened. I know she is scared of the dark," Robert said.
After he made his mind, he felt relaxed. The road ahead was not clear, and maybe death was waiting
for them ahead. But, as long as he was with his beloved one, he was not afraid of anything, even the
virus, and he always had hope.
"Have you made your mind? Are you sure? Don't force yourself," Jane said.
She wanted to confirm that if he had thought it through. However, Robert had been thinking about it for
a long time, but he didn't have the courage to do so.
Now, he was back. He was trying to make the cure after so many experiments.
"Jane, the cure has something to do with you," Robert said.
He hesitated. Only he and his teacher knew it, but he didn't know how long could he keep this secret.
He found that the blood sample of Jane was different from that of ordinary people. It turned blue when
it met the testing kits.
