Chapter 773
Chapter 773:
“That’s not true!” Hadley shot him a mock glare and hopped into the car. As he watched her slender figure disappear inside, Eric’s smile faltered.
He wasn’t being entirely truthful.
This matter involved Ernest and Elissa… and Elissa was one of Hadley’s close friends…
“By the way.” Once in the car, Hadley recalled Elissa’s situation. “Did you find out about that phone number?”
Eric nodded, his long fingers drumming rhythmically on the steering wheel.
He felt a pang of sympathy for her.
His lips parted slightly. “Yes, I found something…”
“The number is indeed registered under Addy’s name,” Eric said calmly.
Hadley blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected that.
But something still didn’t add up. “Why hide the number then?”
Eric cast her a sidelong glance, a faint, knowing smile curving his lips. “Addy is a celebrated master in the art world. His paintings are like rare gems—everyone wants one, yet few ever get their hands on them. Collectors hound him like wolves circling prey. Maybe he just wants a little peace.”
Was that really it?
Hadley furrowed her brows, skepticism creeping in despite the logic.
“Don’t read too much into it,” Eric murmured, reaching over to take her hand, his thumb brushing gently over her skin. “You’re twisting yourself into knots over nothing.”
Was she really?

Hadley instinctively pulled her hand back, her expression taut. “Just keep your eyes on the road!”
At Silver Villas.
Eric stepped out of the shower, steam curling behind him.
“Come here,” Hadley called softly.
“Okay.”
He didn’t question it, simply walked over.
She was holding a knitting needle, a coil of fiery red yarn winding through her fingers. A small, neatly formed loop had taken shape.
Eric arched a brow, suppressing a chuckle. “After all this time, and you’ve only gotten this far?”
Hadley looked up and shot him a half-hearted glare.
“I’m not in a rush.”
Eric quickly backpedaled, amusement flickering in his eyes. “Take your time. If it’s not ready this winter, I’ll wear it next year. I’ll stay in shape, promise.”
“That’s more like it.” Hadley huffed under her breath.
It wasn’t that she was slow—Joy’s sweater had come first. Her little one had to be the priority.noveldrama
She placed what she had started over him. The size seemed just right.
“Perfect!” she smiled.
Packing everything neatly into a bag, she tucked it into her backpack, planning to take it to the TV station tomorrow to pass the time during her lunch break.
