Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 768

Chapter 768

Everly checked her surroundings cautiously before dragging Wayne into the alley. Once certain there were no one or surveillance cameras around, she finally sighed in relief.

"Wayne, save me. I don't want to die!" she begged.

Everly removed her mask before grabbing Wayne's arm. Her puffy face, pale lips, dark circles, and bloodshot eyes made her seem rather sickly.

But Wayne's gaze was fixed on her pregnant belly. The first thing he thought of was not only did Everly turn toward the Chimes for their wealth and become a rich heiress, but she also started sleeping around.

"You're pregnant? Whose baby is it?" he asked sternly.

Everly was unwilling to walk him through the nightmare from that night. The thought of it made her feel uncomfortable and nauseous. She got pregnant that night, resulting in her carrying nonuplets.

Everly wanted to terminate the pregnancy, but the Chimes locked her up, leaving her to fend for herself. It took all her efforts to finally escape today.

"I don't know. There were so many of them, so I don't know who's the father," she answered with a shake of her head.

So many of them? Everly didn't know who the father was?

Wayne's head buzzed from rage at Everly's explanation. How many men did she engage in an orgy with? Why was she sleeping around so recklessly?

He was so furious that he could no longer hold himself back by slapping Everly. After a moment, she cupped her cheek and stared at Wayne in disbelief. "Wayne, did you just slap me?"

As far as she remembered, they had always relied on each other to make ends meet, and Wayne often doted on her. Even after Hera showed up in their lives and Wayne started siding with her all the time, he had never hit Everly before.

"Yes, I just hit you! Why can't you love yourself more? Look at what you've become!" Wayne scolded.

Everly pouted as tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably.

"Who do you think caused me to end up this way? Of course, it was Hera! She's the reason why I'm in this current state!" She sobbed in fury. "She asked Thiago to put me up for auction at the black market and have sex with those men so that I could earn money and pay back my debts!"

Wayne had no clue what Everly had been through at the black market. However, he was aware that she owed a lot of money after buying a large amount of herbs.

"You caused all this mess, yet you're still trying to push the blame on Hera. Why do you think you ended up with those debts? If you hadn't been greedy for wealth, joined the Chimes to become an heiress, and even tried to ruin Hera's clinic by stockpiling the herbs, would you have ended up in so much debt?"

Everly sobbed even louder. "Don't you believe me, Wayne?"

"How can I trust whatever you say now?" Wayne retorted. "I've told you many times that we owe Hera, and we should never forget what she's done for us.noveldrama

"As for you? What did you do? You promised that you would always remember what I said while harming Hera at the same time! Even if Hera did hire someone to hurt you, it serves you right! You asked for it!"

"Yes! I asked for all of that trouble! You're always siding with her, thinking that whatever she does is right and I'm always wrong. If she told you shit smells good, you probably would say the same thing, right? You're her lapdog!"

Everly was so angry that she no longer restrained herself. "You're just a lapdog that follows her instructions to the T and gets nothing in return!"

Wayne noticed that Everly was utterly hopeless, and his initial pity toward her faded instantly. "Why did you seek me out, then?"

Everly suddenly remembered that she wasn't here to start a fight with Wayne. She needed his help.

The Chimes couldn't even save themselves, so they had no time to ruin her. She was lucky that they hadn't killed her, let alone save her.

The only one willing to help her was Wayne. Everly was his only living family member in this world, so Wayne would never ignore her.
