Chapter 771

Bernard took a sip of wine and recalled what happened last night. It explained why he wasn't in a good mood.

"Are you like this because Hera got pregnant and you're finding it too hard to bear?" Shaun asked with a smirk. "Do you want me to call in two women to satisfy your needs?"

"Get lost!" Bernard glowered at Shaun.

"It was a joke!" Shaun said, raising his arms in defeat. "Don't take it seriously."noveldrama

"You have so much free time on your hands, huh? Why don't you help me with the project Tyler's working on?" Bernard said.

Johnson was surprised. "Are you really thinking of joining hands with him?"

All of them knew Bernard disliked Tyler.

"Hera spent quite a lot of time and effort in it," Bernard explained. Therefore, he mustn't let Tyler take all the credit.

Although Bernard's explanation was simple, Johnson and Shaun empathized with him. Bernard was being possessive.

After having a short discussion about the project, Shaun shelved the topic and said, " Bernard, have you and Hera ever talked about whose last name your children would follow?"

Bernard glanced at Shaun as if he were looking at an idiot. "Do we even need to talk about something like that?"

Johnson also found Shaun's question rather odd. "Usually, the child would follow their father's last name, no?"

Shaun fell silent for a bit. Of course, he knew that. But the situation he was in was quite peculiar.

Shaun turned to Bernard, "If, I mean if, Hera wants your son to take her last name, would you agree?"

Instead of replying, Bernard shot Shaun another question. With a surprised look, he asked, " You're taking things seriously with Samantha?"

Shaun had always said that he wouldn't take a relationship seriously. So, Shaun's question came as a surprise.

"Have you forgotten all about Marian Quill?" Johnson added teasingly.

Shaun didn't seem to mind, though. He simply told them, "I wasn't back then. But this time, I'm serious."

Johnson seized the chance to say, "But you told us the same thing last year. Look at what happened in the end."

What happened was that Alex had beaten up Shaun so badly that Shaun was bound to a wheelchair. Johnson had to look after Shaun for quite some time.

Shaun was rendered speechless. After some time, he tried to dismiss the matter by saying," Hey, don't change the topic, will you? I asked Bernard if he'd agree if Hera wanted their son to follow her last name."

"Of course, I would. Why wouldn't I?" Bernard responded. "It's not like my child has a throne to inherit."

He would give his life for Hera, so he wouldn't mind if their child took her last name.

Shaun fell silent once again. He seemed like he had a thousand things to say, but the words were stuck in his throat.

"What is it? Does your child have a throne to inherit in the future?" Bernard lifted an eyebrow teasingly.

With a distressed look, Shaun lit a cigarette and said, "It's not like you don't know how things are back at my home. My grandpa is the traditional type. He would never agree to it." The Thompsons had been working in the military for generations. According to the country's law, military personnel could not marry a person from another country.

Back then, Shaun's family arranged for him to be sent to the military camp, but he didn't like the life he led there. After staying there for three years, he left the military and started doing business instead.

At that time, Alex blew his top and gave Shaun a good beating. Shaun ended up in the hospital for half a month. He almost lost a limb back then.

Although Shaun wasn't a part of the military anymore, he was certain that Alex would be furious to find out that he wanted to marry Samantha, a woman from a foreign country who was also a descendant of a royal family.

If Shaun and Samantha's child were to follow her last name, Alex might bury Shaun alive.
