Chapter 64
Chapter 64
“Mr. Moore, these are Mrs. Somner’s Easter eggs, and they’re delicious. I’ll let you try two.” Sonia offered them with both hands. She hoped this gesture would make Jacob go easy on her.
Jacob’s lips twitched slightly. He could see how reluctant she was to part with the eggs. At first, he had planned to refuse her offer, but the look on her face changed his mind. He reached out and took the eggs. “Only two?”
She shot back, “How many do you want?”
She then muttered under her breath, “Don’t push your luck. I’m saving these in the fridge to savor them later. It’s not every day that Mrs. Sommer makes tasty baster eggs for me.” Jacob glared at Sonia, which made her flinch. She regretted her impulse to sneak a bite before the workday ended.
She reluctantly bent down and rummaged through the box until she found two smaller eggs. She stood up and handed them to him.
He accepted them without hesitation. After all, these Easter eggs were made by Logan’s mother– in–law, Jacob was curious to see how good they were to have made Sonia bold enough to sneak a taste before the workday ended
“You never had Easter eggs before, Mr. Moore? Are you sure you can finish them? if you’re going to throw them away, give them back to me.”
“Just focus on your work,” he snapped before returning to his office with the eggs in hand.
Suddenly, Jacob stopped and turned around just in time to see Sonia quickly withdraw her hand. He could tell she was probably cursing him.
“Mr. Moore,” she called out with a polite nod.
“Next time, if you get any good stuff, share it with me. Don’t keep it to yourself.”
“Sure I’ll bring you haggis tomorrow,” she said.
Jacob was left speechless. She was really testing her lock. He figured he had spoiled her too much
Lorraine was busy fulfilling William’s order. She and Logan spent the day working in the orchards and successfully sent the goods off to Moore Corporation by the end of the day.
The prospect of another big payment lifted her spirits, When she left the company, she hopped into the truck and exclaimed, “Darling, let’s go pick up the lads!” All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Logan had helped with Ernest Incorporated’s delivery the day before and even went inside the company. But this time, he chose to wait in the trick for the delivery to Moore Corporation
Lorraine didn’t think much of it. She figured he was just nervous about his first visit to the company.
After all, Moore Corporation was the largest company in Glendale, and she had never been there either. Whenever she passed by the impressive 68–story office building, she often envied the successful people working inside.
Logan noticed her smile, and he returned it. “Did you get the payment?”
“Yeah, big companies usually pay up when the delivery is made. I told Mr. Cornell that when the Sentennial cherries are ripe, he should give me a heads–up if he wants to give his executives any perks. I’ll set some aside for him.”
The price for Sentennial cherries was a bit higher, so there was more to gain.
Logan’s eyes lit up, but he just smiled and asked, “Did he agree
Lorraine said, “Mr. Cornell said he’d think about it, but I know that’s just polite talk. It’s basic business etiquette since we never deal in absolutes.
“Honestly, he’s handsome, young, and capable. He looks like a celebrity. His voice is warm and inviting too, and he treats everyone with kindness. He’s quite impressive.”
