When Fate Decided to Play its Part

Chapter 61: Snap, snap

CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE:

Snap, snap

--

Inside a medium size room, the people that were evacuated on their floor was softly murmuring to each other. Some were seated but most are not since the seats were not enough to accommodate them all. Although it might not be time for it, some are resenting the people seating on the couches secretly but cannot say anything since they have higher statuses than them. No matter how dangerous the situation is, it seems like the priority of the masses are those people with more power and higher statuses.

In the inner most part of the room, there was another separate couch with a table. There seated the other four: April, Sheryl, Dave, and Aron. April was seating in front of a laptop, she was sweating even though the room has air conditioner. Of course, the sweat that was breaking on her forehead and was sliding on her face were cold sweats. Her right hand was on a mouse, and her forefinger was clicking on it as she keeps on alternating from cameras to cameras. One might not see it clearly, but her hand was shaking.

“What should we do now?” Dave asked nervously. “Does he even know how to do first aid?”

Aron pursed his lips before saying, “He does, but it won’t matter if she loses more blood.”

April bit her lips and groaned internally, the three might not say it out loud, they know that they were feeling guilty about it. They might not be the cause of these men randomly entering the hotel, killing the guards, threatening them with their bombs, and finally making everyone their hostages. But April knew that she was the one who more or less lead Althea’s situation to this. She was the one who cooked something bad for both of the parties, she dragged her up to their floor. She is the guiltiest of the three.

If only she did not crave the satisfaction of seeing Sheryl’s face twisting in anger, Althea could have evacuated safely with the others on that floor.

“April.” Someone called her. She looked at her left, it was Aron. “Stop thinking about anything else.”

“I was not.” She denied. April grunted inside her mind. As usual, he is sharp. She looked back at the screen and watched Tyler carry Althea towards the room she already unlocked using their system. The three of them anxiously watched him run while carrying her limp body in a bridal carry, and also the guy that was chasing them.

April anxiously bit her lip when she saw the other two moves on the corner of the screen. She hopes that he will arrive at the room fast before they catch up. April can’t begin to imagine how hard it was to run while carrying a full-grown adult woman and also while trying to be conscious of their back incase a flying bullet came flying again.

-

Tyler felt like he was in a marathon.

He used to run kilometers when he was still in high school, although that stopped when he stepped into college, he was still continuously working out to stay fit. He has a confidence about outrunning anyone as long as they are not professional athletes, but currently, the erratic beating of his heart and him being constantly in edge and very conscious about his back was making him loose that confidence.

Tyler panicked when he felt that the body that he was carrying was slowly slipping out from his grasp. He did not look down, instead he gripped her body tighter and almost buried her on his chest from the way he is pressing her back to him. When he adjusts the positioning of her body, he touched that sticky, hot liquid again.

“Fuck,” he cursed against the wind, face hardening and brows meeting at the middle.

He doubled his speed, thankfully the room was only a few meters away from them.

The man that was chasing them also cursed after seeing that they were far from him. He can’t believe that they are actually escaping from his grasp when he injured the other. He thought that the man will escape by himself and live the other, but it what happened was the opposite of what he wants.

Who is foolish enough to risk their life with you? Is he her brother? Or lover? If he is, he must be madly in love with her.

‘Ah, maybe he will get tired of running sooner, with that in tow, I don’t think he will last any longer,’ with that in mind, he slowed down, thinking about conserving his stamina. Like he said, it was unlikely that the two of them can completely escape.

Aside from a gun running after them, they cannot enter any room here unless forced since all of them were locked.

His laid-back composure broke when Tyler pushed a door open, and it opened. His eyes widen in shock, and he stopped running. Since he can’t shoot precisely while running, he stopped and pointed his gun towards the two, but when he fired, he missed by a hair’s breadth, but nonetheless, still missed the shot.

Seeing the door completely shut, he can only do nothing but stare at it then mutter a silent curse, “Shit.”

-

While Dave, Aron and her was silently watching, someone among the four was restless.

Sheryl, who was still mad about what happened earlier, was glaring at them intently. Seeing them looking calm while she was still raging inside pressed the wrong button inside her. That was when she

accidentally looked at the screen and saw the two of them entered a room with Tyler carrying Althea in his arms.

She completely snapped. She shouted at April, “This is all your fault you ungrateful bitch.”

“…??” April looked at her, confusion written on her face.

What bull is this girl talking about?

Even Dave has the same reaction, and like how he is, Aron was the only one who looks unbothered even thought others were already looking towards them. Then other three did not noticed this of course.

Seeing the clueless face of April, it ignited her anger even more. “Because of you, he has to do a completely unnecessary thing! Look at what you dragged him into!”

It was only then when realization hit her, Sheryl’s words hit her guilt spot, but April refused to show it. Because how dare she call her a bitch. “What’s wrong with you? It’s not entirely my fault that he went and left you, you know. Also, it wasn’t I who forced him to go down and went to her. He did it himself!”

Sheryl was becoming red as she tries to bottle up the amount of rage she was feeling inside. Her glare towards April was becoming tense, “No! Because of what you did- he has no other choice but to get her in your stead! Why not you go and get her because it was you who dragged her here in the first place! How they’re all alone in one room! There’s no CCTV camera in there either!”

“…” April finally realized the reason of her unreasonable outburst. This made her face twitch and she can feel the revolt in her stomach. She was disgusted. “So that’s what you wanted to say: you just don’t want the two of them alone.” April raised a brow. “Are you afraid?”

“Afraid of what?” She shouted, her both eyebrows were raised in an unimaginable height.

“Are you afraid that Althea might steal Tyler from you like how you did to her?” April snorted. “Bitch, remember that he was never yours in the first place. Know your place.”

--

The other two caught up to the other soon enough. The guy who was knocked out buy Tyler was still cupping his head with hateful glare on his eyes. Seeing that the one who he ordered to catch the woman was standing still like a stupid statue in the center of the road- completely unnecessary, distracting, and hard to look at- he huffed angrily.

“Fucker!” He called out. “What kind of stupidity did you do and you’re just standing there?!”

The other guy looked at him and said with hesitation. “It seems like he let them go.”

This made the higher one snap and slapped his head, “Stupid! How dare you! What if they’ll tell the police that the bombs were fake? We won’t have any other choice but to escape after that! Remember: we won’t get the other half of the payment unless that person says we can already withdraw from here!”

“I’m sorry,” the guy with the gun said. “I did not expect for them to have help with whoever owns this hotel. They managed to open a door.”

“Argh!” He had no other choice but to shout in fury. He was already losing it. The money that ‘that’ person promised them to give was huge! Even the down payment was huge! The condition was just invade this hotel and not to withdraw until they said so! It was an easy task! But look what kind of shitty thing happened!

Then his phone buzz in his pocket. He picked it up and opened it. When his eyes read the message that a familiar number sent him, he can’t help but laughed like a stupid idiot. The other two looked at

him weirdly. He scoffed, “Tell the guys were going. The- whoever is it- is already satisfied with the things we did here, which is: none.”

“We can go now? But we literally did nothing!”

He glared at him, “Shut up. The money is already in. Let’s just escape from here and enjoy the money.”

With that, the other two followed him without a word.
