Chapter 1320

Pearl was having breakfast early in the morning when she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her belly.

Seeing Pearl's pale face, Susan was worried. "Pearl, what's wrong? Why does your belly hurt all of a sudden?"

Pearl didn't know either. She had a terrible stomachache, as if someone was cutting her belly with a knife. She couldn't even speak.

"I'd better take her to the hospital," Richard decided. "If not, it might harm her and the baby." He then quickly picked up Pearl.

When Richard mentioned the baby, Susan realized Pearl was pregnant, which made her very scared. "Will the baby be okay?"

Richard was more focused on getting Pearl help. He said to Susan, still looking worried but trying to stay calm, "I'm taking her to the hospital now. Save the food she ate this morning. I'll check it when I get back."

He had a feeling the pain was connected to the food Pearl ate that morning.

Susan nodded and watched them leave.

At the hospital, a doctor examined Pearl thoroughly.

After looking at the report, the doctor scolded, "What were you thinking letting a pregnant woman eat so much cold food? Don't you care about the baby at all? You should take better care of her. She's weak and shouldn't be eating that kind of food. It's good you brought her quickly. If you were late, it could have been much worse."

Richard felt guilty from the doctor's stern words. "I'm really sorry. We'll be more careful." His sincere apology made the doctor ease up a bit. The doctor gave Richard the bill to pay.

After the doctor left, Richard looked at Pearl lying weakly in bed. "I'm sorry. I should have been more careful with what you ate."

Pearl was still very worried about the baby. "It's not your fault. I've been too busy to notice something was wrong with the food," she whispered weakly.

"It's okay. I've asked Mom to keep an eye on things. When we get home, I'll look into it. Just focus on resting now," Richard assured her.

Pearl held his hand as he was about to leave. "I think I should go home."

"Why?"

"It's safer at home. The hospital has too many people, and it's easier for something bad to

happen here," she explained.

Richard agreed, realizing the situation might be more complicated. The doctor had told them it wasn't the first time Pearl had eaten something risky, and she was showing signs of a possible miscarriage.

As he was handling the discharge, he met the doctor again. The doctor scolded him for wanting to take Pearl home. "How can you act like this? Don't you care about her health? She's very weak. If you're worried about the cost, I'll pay. She shouldn't suffer like this!"

Richard was at a loss for words and just listened to the doctor's harsh words. He knew the doctor was just trying to do what was best and didn't mean to be hurtful.
