Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 828

Overnight, the skies over London took an ominous turn. Cameron found himself in deep trouble, cornered like a criminal by his own employees. They blocked every exit from his company, chanting, "Cameron, how long do you plan to hide like a coward? You owe us months of wages, and you must pay us back!"

When he retreated to his home, they gathered at his doorstep, shouting, "You promised us that after the Kensington Group's bid, you'd pay our back wages in full. Now, because of your mistakes, the bid fell through. How dare you break your promise? You need to pay up!"

In just two days, Cameron seemed to age a decade. Gray hairs sprouted at his temples, his beard was unkempt, and a dark shadow circled his lips. He sat slumped in his chair, listening to the angry shouts from outside, feeling so defeated that he wished for nothing but an escape.

How did it get to this point?

That fateful night, Cindy had mimicked Greta's dance. Greta, consumed with jealousy, wasn't comforted by him; instead, he scolded her for being unreasonable. Her anger overwhelmed her, triggering a flare-up of her kidney condition and landing her in the emergency room.

The doctor warned him: her condition was critical, and he needed to stay close, ready to sign off on surgery if needed. He spent a tense night at the hospital, finally breathing a sigh of relief when the doctor announced the next morning that Greta was out of danger. Once the pressure lifted, he realized that day was the deadline for the Kensington bid.

The time wasn't too late, but the crucial documents were at home. He hurried back to retrieve them, confident that if they reached Kensington on time, everything would be fine. So, he called the housekeeper at Dawson Estate, asking her to find the documents in his study and deliver them promptly.

But why?

When he arrived at Kensington, Nathalie met him with a victorious smile. At that moment, he knew he had lost. The housekeeper had been thwarted by an unexpected roadblock-Nina.

A knock at the door.

Nina entered, carrying a bowl of chamomile tea. "Dad, have some tea to calm down."

Cameron glared at Nina, her

innocent face revealing nothing. He couldn't grasp why she would sabotage him at such a critical

moment.

"Why did you deceive me?" he demanded.

Nina placed the tea in front of him and shot back, "Dad, how does it feel to be let down?"

Cameron's eyes widened with realization. Nina's innocence had been a façade. "Nina, what's going on?"

Nina sat across from him, her young age masked by the maturity of someone who had lived two lifetimes.noveldrama

"In my past life, I called you before I died. You promised you'd come home to see me, but you never did."

Cameron's face turned pale.

"And you said you'd be there for my school events, but you ditched me for that woman, Greta. Do you know how my classmates mocked me? They called me an orphan, said Mom was a homewrecker. But Mom was your wife, and I was your daughter. Your broken promises brought us so much shame."

Cameron covered his face with his hands, drowning in guilt, unable to meet Nina's eyes.

"Dad, I know you're trying to make it up to me. But do you realize that by orchestrating this, you've left me with nothing, not even dignity? This doesn't help you or me."
