Similar in stature and appearance with Joseph, Franklin had a totally different air about him.

At first glance, he seemed much more approachable than Joseph.

He’s just a character, Hayden thought after critically studying him, “Thanks, but no thanks. I have to let the factory know as soon as possible so that our cooperation goes smoothly.”

“You’re a responsible woman.” She smiled at him, “I heard my cousin is currently working for you, it’s impressive how you convinced him to work for a small company. You really have him eating out of the palm of your hand, don’t you?”.

“Save the speech.” Franklin’s insinuation really made her impatient. “Mind your own business, Mr. Franklin. You don’t want to fall again, do you? The higher you climb, the longer the fall.”

Franklin’s expression changed, his voice became somber, “Sounds like my cousin tells you everything.”

“I would have found out even if he hadn’t told me. After all, I once worked for the ST Group and I know at least a thing or two about the company’s history.”

“I don’t need to know anyway. You lost, that’s all I need to know, and you’ll lose again.”

“What if I told you I’ve never lost?” He lifted his chin a little, complacent, “I just spent three years laying my foundation. Losing is not a word in my dictionary, never have, never will.”

“What do you mean?” Hayden frowned.

But Franklin didn’t answer him, instead he walked away toward the elevator saying, “I guess I shouldn’t press you if you don’t feel like having lunch with us. Take care, Miss Hayden, I’ll see you.”

Standing where he was, what Franklin said to him echoed around him.

He had a feeling that something bad was happening.

She pondered his words on the way back, she had an epiphany when she returned to the Downey Group.

“Miss Hayden.” Said Anna, “We’re here, don’t you want to get off?”.

“Make sure Dante gets the contract and this file.” Hayden replied, “I have to do something, I’ll catch up with you later.”

“Noted.” Vanessa replied.

Hayden drove to the police college.

The rules were strict here, no vehicles other than bicycles or motorcycles, could enter the campus.

She waited ten minutes before Benjamin showed up with his motorcycle “What’s the emergency?”

“The accident happened three years ago. I think Franklin was involved.”

She cut right to the chase and told Benjamin about the conversation they had today.

Frowning, Benjamin mulled over Franklin’s words. A few moments later, he slapped the back seat of his bike, “Get on, Hayden. This is no place to talk about this.”

“What?” Hayden looked doubtful.

“What, my bike doesn’t fit your status?”. He scoffed, “I’d like to get in your car. But it’s the rules, even the director wouldn’t get in here on his car.”

“That’s not what I mean, come on.” She got in at last.

Hayden was wearing a green dress with a calf hem. That’s the reason she was reluctant to get on the bike.
