Chapter 16
"Come in. The door's unlocked."
Dominic trembled slightly before carefully opening the door. As soon as he stepped into the villa, he spotted Gideon, who was sitting on the couch.
"Sir!"
Dominic rushed over and gave a low bow of respect.
If Lavinia, Elara, and the others had seen this, their jaws would've dropped.
Glancing over at Dominic, Gideon asked, "Didn't you give this villa to me? Why did you come back? Have you changed your mind and decided to take it back?"
Dominic shook his head fervently. "No, of course not, sir. You've misunderstood me. I came here to see you."
"What for?"
"I'd like to head to Oasis Vale. I hope you can fulfill my request," Dominic beseeched with a solemn expression.
Chuckling, Gideon asked, "Why do you want to head to Oasis Vale? You're good friends with Hercule, right? Do you want to visit him?"
"I'd like to move into Oasis Vale and train," Dominic replied.
Gideon was startled.
Dominic wanted to train at Oasis Vale? Did he get hit on the head? Farming was merely hard labor. What kind of training would that be?
However, Dominic got down on his knees and said in all seriousness, "I am determined, sir. Please give me the chance to undergo training there."
"What's wrong with you?"
Gideon was rendered speechless, but since Dominic wanted to go over there, he had no reason to deny the request. He wrote out a note and tossed it over to Dominic.
"You know where Oasis Vale is. Take this note with you. The guys there recognize my handwriting, so they'll take you in."
Ecstatic, Dominic said, "Thank you so much, sir! If you don't need me, I'll head off right now."
Gideon waved him off, and Dominic left in excitement with the note in hand.
After leaving Beaker Island, Matthew and the others were still eagerly discussing Dominic, while Elara looked like she had a lot on her mind.
"Ella, are you worried about Gideon? He snuck into Mr. Zeller's house like a thief! He asked for it. It has nothing to do with us. You don't need to blame yourself."noveldrama
"But-"
"Don't worry about it! Let's go. I'll take you home. If Mr. Seymour asks about this, I'll help you explain what happened."
Matthew put his arms around Elara and led her to the car before driving them back to the Seymour residence.
"Mom, Dad, I'm home."
"Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour!"
Marion's eyes brightened as she looked at Matthew. "Oh, you came along, too. Do have a seat."
Arnold looked behind them before asking, “Ella, where's Gideon? Didn't he go to Beaker Island with you guys? Why isn't he back here?"
Elara hesitated to answer, which made Arnold frown and ask grimly, "Did
something happen? Hurry up and tell me what's going on."
"Don't be upset, Mr. Seymour. It wasn't Ella's fault. Gideon's the one who got himself into trouble."
"What do you mean?"
Matthew explained, "Dominic Zeller, also known as the King of Battle, lives on Beaker Island. He's someone that even Ms. Lavinia Mosley, the war hero, has the utmost respect for.
"However, Gideon, that foolish man, snuck into Mr. Zeller's villa like a thief and got caught red-handed."
"What did you say?" Arnold exclaimed, his expression disbelieving.
"You can't blame this on me, Dad! I have nothing to do with it," Elara said.
"That's right,” Matthew chimed in. "Gideon brought it upon himself. It has nothing to do with Ella at all. I'm afraid Mr. Zeller must've killed him and tossed his body into the water to feed the fish by now."
Arnold slumped onto the couch with a look of sorrow. He dared not believe what he was hearing.
On the other hand, Marion scoffed. "Excellent! It's good that he's dead. We don't have to be bothered by him
anymore.
"Ella, head to the police station tomorrow and arrange to get Gideon's death certificate prepared. Once the paperwork is all sorted out, you'll no longer be a married woman."
Elara was thrilled, but for some reason, she still felt it was a pity that Gideon died just like that. After all, it was a life. But either way, he had no one but himself to blame.
"Mom, Dad, you guys looked troubled just now. You were sighing, too. What happened?" Elara asked.
Marion replied, "Well, there is something that is giving us quite a headache. I'm sure you heard of Mr. Duran before, right?"
"Leopold Sullivan of the North, Nino Duran of the South," Matthew rattled off. "Everyone knows who Mr. Duran is, of course. He's a criminal underworld boss equal to Mr. Sullivan."
What do you think?
