Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 1068

"Step on it!" Gilbert barked at the driver, urgency lacing his voice.

"Sure thing, Mr. Nine," the driver responded, pressing the pedal harder.

Finally, they arrived at Blue Haven.

The car came to a halt at the South Building. Without missing a beat, Gilbert scooped Sherilyn into his arms and dashed up to the second floor.

"Put me down!" Sherilyn protested.

"I've got you. Let's go!" Gilbert insisted, practically flying up the staircase. He kicked open Sherilyn's bedroom door and quickly swung it shut behind them, locking it with a swift motion.

He laid her gently on the bed...

They used to be married, and even after their separation, they'd been together. Sherilyn knew exactly what was on his mind.

"Can I take a shower first?" she asked softly, trying to stall.

"What for? We can do that later!" he replied, leaning in. She was unable to resist, surrendering to the moment.

Maybe she wasn't just surrendering.

...

Gilbert had never felt anything like this before, a sensation that consumed him entirely. His cheeks were flushed, eyes half-closed, every breath he took was scorching...

He was burning up!

And he welcomed it!

He was ready to lose himself in this moment, to let it consume him completely.

Afterwards, Sherilyn was utterly spent. As usual, Gilbert carried her to the bathroom and helped her wash.

Sherilyn was too drained to move, her body felt like it had been soaked in vinegar, tender and weak, her bones fragile. She took comfort in his attentive care.

Gilbert, on the other hand, was invigorated, as if he had an endless supply of energy. As he carried Sherilyn back to the bed, he marveled at her delicate frame, her shoulder blades like the wings of a butterfly, ready to take flight.

Every part of her was stunning beyond belief...

He laid her down and wrapped his arms around her gently.

Though this wasn't their first time, it was today that he truly understood the profound connection of body and soul-it was simply... breathtaking! Raising a hand, he brushed aside the hair sticking to her neck and pressed soft kisses to her skin.

"Ugh!" Sherilyn groaned, her eyes closed, swatting at him impatiently.

"Can we take a break?" she asked.

"...Alright," Gilbert chuckled softly, agreeing, and held her close without further advances.

But he couldn't contain his excitement.

"Do you love me, darling?"

"... Yeah," Sherilyn replied, rolling her eyes inwardly, her voice tinged with sarcasm.

"Answer properly!" Gilbert insisted, refusing to let her brush him off.

"I do love you..." Sherilyn admitted, a bit exasperated.

"I knew it," Gilbert grinned, satisfied, pulling her closer. "I love you too, a lot."

Sherilyn turned over, sitting up, and pointed towards the closet. "I need to get dressed..."

Her stomach growled in agreement, and besides, his medication was still waiting... "As you wish."

Gilbert couldn't help but smile, lifting her up again as he carried her to the closet.

Sherilyn picked out some clothes, slipping them on, and then tossed some to him as well.

"Put these on," she instructed.

Gilbert complied without protest.

Once they were dressed, Sherilyn

headed for the door, muttering toet

herself, "I wonder if Jenna's been

looking for me..."

"Sherilyn!"

Out of the blue, Gilbert wrapped his arms around her from behind, his chin resting on her shoulder. His voice was serious, "You'll stay with me forever, right?"

"...Yes," Sherilyn answered quickly, knowing that if she didn't, he'd keep asking until he got the ahe wanted.

Might as well put his mind at ease and get some peace.noveldrama

"You said it," Gilbert kissed her cheek, a hint of mischief in his voice. "You better keep that promise....."

"I will, I have a great memory," she replied with a teasing smile.
