Chapter 1069
Sherilyn opened the door and stepped out into the hallway.
"Mom!"
She looked down to see Jenna, her chubby cheeks puffed out in a pout, casting a forlorn glance at Sophia, who was holding her back.
"See, I told you Mom was back! But Sophia insisted she wasn't and wouldn't let me knock!"
"Heh," Sophia chuckled sheepishly, "Sophia must've been mistaken. Sorry, Jenna."
With that, she released Jenna's hand. "Go find your mom!"
"Mom!"
Sherilyn scooped up her daughter and gave an apologetic smile to Sophia.
The staff probably all knew they were back now...
But as soon as they returned, they'd headed straight to their room and locked the door. What they'd been up to was pretty clear. Sophia had held Jenna back to avoid interrupting them...
How embarrassing!
"Jenna."
Soon, Gilbert emerged, grinning as he reached out for Jenna. "Come here, sweetheart."
"Alright!" Jenna squealed, tumbling into his arms.
Just then, a housekeeper appeared and asked, "Ms. Gomez, shall I set the table for dinner?"
"Yes, please," Sherilyn nodded. "We're coming down."
"Very well," she replied, casting a glance at Gilbert before heading downstairs.
Gilbert, oblivious to Sherilyn's glance, carried Jenna and followed her.
The family enjoyed dinner together, though Gilbert had some work to finish afterward. Sherilyn stayed with Jenna while he went to his study.
When he finally descended the stairs, he found the living room empty of the mother and daughter duo.
Sophia, noticing his confusion, pointed towards the glass doors leading to the garden. "They're out there." "Thanks."
Gilbert expressed his gratitude and headed towards the garden.
The doors opened onto a patio that overlooked an artificial pond, complete with a gentle waterfall. The sound of trickling water mingled with Jenna and Sherilyn's giggles.
Gilbert hurried his steps and found them crouched by the pond, heads close together.
"Ahem."
Not wanting to startle them, Gilbert cleared his throat softly as he approached, stopping just behind them.
"What are you up to?" he asked gently.
"Mr. Gilbert!" Jenna jumped up, waving her chubby little hands. "Mom's making me a whistle!"
"Really?"
Gilbert peered at the object in her palm. A whistle? It looked like... a peach pit?
"Let me see..."

He reached out, but Jenna giggled and pulled her hand back, cradling the pit protectively. "This one's mine! You can ask Mom for hers!" en.kikistori
"Is that so..."
Gilbert chuckled, lifting Jenna into his arms and crouching beside Sherilyn, smoothing back a loose strand of her hair.
"What exactly are you doing here?"
"Can't you tell?" Sherilyn raised an eyebrow at him. "Here..."
She showed him the peach pit in her hand.
It was just an ordinary peach pit, leftover from their dessert. One s been worn down almost

Sherilyn explained, "Once I wear through this side too, I'll clean out the inside and it'll be a whistle, ready to blow."
"That's impressive," Gilbert feigned surprise, playing along.
"Really?" Sherilyn gave him a sidelong glance. "You never did this as a kid?"
"Honestly, no..." Gilbert shook his head. "Growing up, having food on the table was enough."
Ah, right.noveldrama
Sherilyn fell silent, focusing on the peach pit in her hand. "Almost there..."
