Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 1072

Francis didn't even spare a glance at Eddy. His eyes were fixed solely on Rebecca, specifically on the hand she had clasped around Eddy's arm. It felt like a needle was piercing his heart.

He took a deep breath, his voice emerging through gritted teeth, "Let go!"

"What?" Rebecca blinked, not quite comprehending his demand, or perhaps choosing not to.

She glanced at Eddy, "Let's go."

"Okay..." Eddy looked between the two of them, uncertainty flickering in his eyes.

Just as they turned to leave, Francis's voice cut through the air again, "I said let go!"

Francis grabbed Rebecca's other arm, his face dark and stormy.

"Rebecca, let him go! Don't touch him!"

Rebecca was momentarily stunned, then laughed incredulously, shaking her head. "What gives you the right to talk to me like that? Do I need your permission for everything I do?"

With that, she shook off Francis's grip and linked her arm with Eddy's once more.

"Rebecca..."

Eddy frowned, concern etching his features, "Are you guys fighting? I'm okay... Maybe you two should talk?"

"No need."

Rebecca refused to look back at Francis, urging Eddy onward, "Let's go!"

And with a touch of defiance, she added, "I'd like to see who dares stop me in broad daylight!"

"Alright then," Eddy nodded hesitantly, allowing Rebecca to lead him away, not daring to glance back at Francis. They left, just like that.

Francis stood rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on their retreating figures, his chest tight and ready to burst.

What was happening to him?

Why did he feel so uncomfortable? So hurt?

Rebecca helped Eddy into the car, instructing him, "Get some rest. I'll be back soon!"

"Okay..."

After making sure Eddy was settled, Rebecca headed to the corner drugstore. She picked up the usual antacids Eddy needed, along with a bottle of water, and returned to the car.

She handed the medication and water to Eddy, "Here, take your meds."

"Thanks, Rebecca," Eddy said after swallowing the pills, visibly relieved.

Rebecca shook her head with a gentle smile. "It's nothing. I'll sit with you for a bit, and once you're feeling better, I'll head off."

"Sounds good."noveldrama

Eddy looked out the window, sighing, "Looks like Mr. Johnson left."

Rebecca paused, her lips pressing into a thin line, but she said nothing.

"Rebecca," Eddy hesitated before asking, "Are you guys okay? Did he...did he get tired of you?"

Rebecca was silent for a moment, then shook her head, "No, it's not like that."

"Then..." Eddy ventured another guess, "Is it because of me?"

"No," Rebecca chuckled softly, "Don't overthink it. It has nothing to do with you."

"Oh..."

Eddy fell silent, pondering for a

moment before asking again, "Doet

vel

you guys think you'll end up together? Like, get married something?"

"Are you feeling better now?" Rebecca swiftly changed the

"You look a bit better el

With that, she turned to open the car door.

"Rebecca!"

Eddy suddenly reached out and held her hand.

Rebecca turned back, surprised, "What is it?"

"I..." Eddy held her hand gently, not crossing any lines, just looking at her intently.

"Take care, and... goodbye."

Rebecca felt a pang of emotion, her eyes misting over.

"Yeah, goodbye."

Eddy slowly released her hand.

Rebecca gave a faint smile, opened the car door, and stepped out.

She closed the door, waved to Eddy, "I'm off..."

"Okay."

Turning away, Rebecca's smile faded. This parting felt like... it might be final.

She closed her eyes, her lashes growing damp.

Rebecca walked slowly, heading back to the office.

She had taken time off to come out, and there was still work waiting for her.

As she approached the office

building, she spotted a familiar.

Porsche parked conspicuoushel

front.
