Chapter 1082
"Got it."
Dr. Wilson stood up, "There's no nurse today, I'll go grab the meds. Just hang tight for a bit."
"Thanks, Doc."
After getting the meds, they left the clinic.
Francis turned to Rebecca White, "Need a ride home?"
It was the weekend, a day off.
"No..."
Rebecca shook her head, pointing ahead, "Just drop me off at that corner."
There was a subway station near that corner.
Francis asked, "Got somewhere to be?"
"Yeah." Rebecca nodded, "Heading to the hospital."
Francis understood, "Going to see Mr. White?"
"Yes."
"Alright then..." Francis instructed the driver, "Let's head to Summit Hospital first."
"No need..."
Rebecca looked at him, surprised.
Unlike her, Francis had social obligations even on weekends. Taking her to the doctor had already taken up quite a bit of his time.noveldrama
"You should go about your day. The subway's convenient enough for me."
Francis shook his head, "It's nothing formal. I can drop you at the hospital first. Being a bit late is no big deal."
Before they knew it, the car had already passed the corner.
Rebecca decided not to argue further.
At the hospital, Francis was in a hurry and didn't get out. He let Rebecca off and drove away.
Rebecca turned and headed to the inpatient department.
At this hour, Galloway White wasn't in his room; he had a few tests scheduled for today and was in the medical department.
Rebecca hurried over, only to find that Galloway was accompanied by just a nurse, with no family in sight.
"Grandpa."
Rebecca felt a twinge of guilt. "Why didn't you tell me about the tests today?"
Not only her, but no one from her father's side had come to accompany him either.
"It's alright," Galloway waved it off with a smile, "You all have your lives. There's a nurse with me."
But it's not the same, she thought.
Rebecca didn't dwell on her frustrations and instead ran around, staying with him through all the tests.
Back in the room, she helped Galloway settle in.
The old man was still quite weak, and the ordeal left him looking pale.
"Grandpa, you should rest for a bit."
Rebecca sat by the bed, "I'm free today, so I'll stay here with you." "Ah... okay."
...
When Galloway woke up that afternoon, Rebecca was still there.
"Grandpa, you're awake." Rebecca quickly stood up, helping him sit up a bit.

"Alright."
Rebecca brought over the food and sat by the bed, feeding him.
"Rebecca..."
Galloway seemed more spirited now, looking at her curiously.
"Did you come here by yourself today?"

Rebecca hesitated for a moment, then smiled softly, "Yeah, just me."
"Oh..." Galloway furrowed his brow, "Is Eddy working overtime?"
Rebecca pressed her lips together, giving a noncommittal nod, "Yeah, something like that..."
"What's that now?"
The hospital room door swung open,

Rebecca was taken aback, not understanding why her father was addressing her with such a scolding tone.
She let out a bitter laugh.
