Chapter 61
Jason Lawson greeted me with a warm smile as soon as he saw me.
"Now I see what they mean by 'like father, like son.' You look just like your dad did when he was your age!"
"You're too kind, Jason. This is my first day on the job, and I still have a lot to learn. I'll be counting on your guidance."
"Of course. Don't worry, I'll support you every step of the way and make sure you're ready to take over your dad's position."
Jason walked me to my office and assigned me a secretary. He suggested I take some time to settle in and assured me that everything else could wait.
I thanked him, saying, "I don't have much hands-on experience in this industry yet, so for now, let's keep things running as they are."noveldrama
Jason nodded in agreement. "Understood. You can leave it all to me."
As soon as I stepped into the general manager's office, I could immediately tell how different it was from my old office as a doctor. The office spanned nearly a thousand square feet and even included a full suite, making it convenient for me to rest during the day.
The décor was thoughtfully chosen, with much of it reflecting Dad's style. After all, he was the one who had occupied this space before me. I only needed to update the essentials and leave everything else as it was.
Then, there was the secretary Jason had assigned to me. She was strikingly beautiful, with long black hair and a youthful appearance. I soon learned that she had just graduated this year and was working here as an intern.
I frowned-not because I had anything against her personally but because I didn't have a background in financial management. Even though my parents had made me take numerous relevant courses, I was completely new to real-world experience.
Now, Jason had assigned me an intern as my secretary.
We were a rookie duo-completely clueless and green in every way.
Out of respect for Jason, I decided not to say anything.
Instead, the secretary and I began going through the office work manuals. However, to be honest, they weren't of much help.
In the afternoon, I took the initiative to ask if I could start familiarizing myself with the work.
Jason's smile faltered slightly when he heard my request. "It's only your first day, Mr. Ranford. You haven't even settled in yet, and you're already eager to dive into work?"
I frowned slightly. Jason's words made me uncomfortable.
"I'll have to get the hang of it sooner or later. Does it really make a difference whether I learn now or later?"
Jason smiled, "Alright. I just happen to have something you can work on. This is one of the key projects our company is currently focusing on We haven't finalized the deal yết. Since you're eager to get started, why don't you take this one on?
"The task is to reach out to a traditional craft artisan, discuss the collaboration, and get him to sign the contract. Once that's taken care of, the project will be secured."
He sat behind the desk, gazing at
me with a calm expression. "Mr. Ranford, you graduated from a prestigious college and come from well-established family. This shouldn't be too difficult for you,
right?"
I took the project proposal and quickly skimmed through it. While I wasn't
particularly familiar with matters like this...
"Is this really something the general manager should be handling?"
Normally, the department that drafted the project proposal should be the one overseeing it.
"Mr. Ranford, since you don't have a foundation in this industry, it's better to start from the ground up. That way, you'll be able to grasp things more easily.
"I was specifically assigned by the chairman to guide you. Don't worry, this type of project is just a one-time thing. I just want you to get an overal understanding of how the company operates. I'm not asking you to actually handle the business."
Jason mentioned Dad and reassured me. Lowering my gaze, I set the project proposal aside.
"Alright, I'll go."
What do you think?
